DTs running HBs down with ease...?

I am practicing with the Cheifs. I am running a sweep play and everyone is blocked. However, a weak side( opposite the direction of the sweep ) DT breaks off his block and still manages to drop Jamaal Charles behind the line. He literally beat Charles to the spot even after being blocked and having to run a longer distance.

I am no expert at madden, but is there anyway I can make the game play a little bit more realistic then a 69 OVR DT running Jamaal Charles down and dropping him like a rock behind the line on a sweep?

Thanks for any input!

That is what the speed threshold does essentially, a 0 threshold is going to make the game "realistic" but it will also make speed pretty dominant (because it's a video game).

If you leave the threshold at the default 50 the difference between someone like Charles and a mediocre lineman is sadly pretty minor in a small space. there are actually youtube videos showing how it works with receivers - the threshold will actually "leash" your player back and pull them towards the defender >.>

I set my threshold at 5 because I refuse to play the game as you described, and I just don't run streaks and other plays to abuse it all the time

Spreed Threshold 0 is the only way to play.

1. Slow linemen don't run down the field and catch up the WR/RB or DB in an interception.

2. Slower RB's or possesion recievers should not be able to run away from faster DB's

Yes speed will help but with the other sliders set correctly this will help with seperation/blocking/rushing etc etc.

Haven't had this as an issue.

Play around with the speed threshold.

There are times irl a DT will run down a RB who just broke through but they should never be able to run them down once they get past the LB level.

Sometimes a RB may slow up after breaking through to make a cut etc.

I play with the Threshold at 45 and I am getting great results. I have not seen any wonky situations of a clearly slower player runnig down my RB or WR who is supposed to be a burner.

Also the pursuit angles are really good this year and as close to sim as Madden as ever been.

Re: DTs running HBs down with ease...?

Thanks for the feed back guys!

I decided to try out the 0 threshold and found that my already suspect defense was getting done in by the CPU even more lol. I decided to get to where I could make the run game happen on 50 since thats what me and my friends play on. I fixed the whole sweep problem by running inside the tackles. Honestly that has fixed the problem. I put a hat on a hat blocking and shoot through the first hole that opens up.

Just played Bucs/Panthers on all madden, everything default, and ran for 120 yards and 2 TDs with Blount. 6 min quarters, accelerated clock off. Not bad results if you ask me, especially considering how bad my run game was before hand (MJD averaged 2.3 YPC...) lol

Thanks again!

On the defaults, defenders get a speed boost once the ball is outside the numbers. Maybe they are sprinting, maybe they are running too fast... But their pursuit angles are much better than they ever have been on Madden in the past. The speed + better angles will make it tough for even a Jamaal Charles to get out of the backfield.

This has happened to me a few times but the most glaring time was when Shaun Rogers ran down Trent Richardson on a screen even with Richardson getting a 10 yard head start.
