Bungels to Bengals - Suggestions?

The Bengals will be my Franchise team when Madden releases. My plan is to take them from Bungels to Bengals (as they will most likely be the lowest rated team in Madden when the roster update is applied).

Any suggestions on which direction to go in with the team? Which positions to upgrade? I'm open to ideas.

The first season will be pretty ugly, and the off-season is what I'm most looking forward to. I'll be able to implement more changes to the roster and bring in some better personnel. Here's what I have in mind...

Offense- Young and talented players peppered throughout offense, I'll look to build a stronger offensive line and add an explosive running back.

QB- Andy Dalton- could be a franchise QB, will have to see how he progresses
HB- Cedric Benson (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)
FB- Brian Leonard- serviceable (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)
WR- A.J. Green- will progress into elite Pro Bowl WR, option number one on offense
WR- Jordan Shipley- ideally, he will play the slot and I can acquire another vetical threat opposite Green
TE- Jermaine Gresham- Will rely on him heavily, as Dalton does not have great arm strength

LT- (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)
LG- Andrew Whitworth- will move from LT to LG
C- (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)
RG- Andre Smith- will move from RT to RG
RT- (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)

Defense- The defense is solid, with a young front 7 that could be together for the next six years. Secondary will need to be upgraded in off-season.

LE- Carlos Dunlap- elite pass rusher for years to come
RE- Michael Johnson- great speed and finesse moves off the edge
DT- Domata Peko- quality DT to plug the middle
DT- Pat Sims- teams well with Peko but might upgrade if possible

LOLB- Dontay Moch- great speed and will use him to blitz often
MLB- Rey Maualuga- owns the middle of the field for my defense
ROLB- Keith Rivers- great talent on the outside, could be elite

CB- Leon Hall- will miss the duo of Hall and JJ, but still a quality corner
CB- Nate Clements- (Looking to upgrade through draft or free agency)
FS- Reggie Nelson- good speed and hands, should be serviceable
SS- Taylor Mays- speed and hit power will be a nice addition to the defense

Suggestions/Ideas?

From the looks of it.. you need to work on the secondary and O-line. Its hard to say right now who will be available in free agency and what undrafted rookies that have been signed are coming in at.

Also, are you importing NCAA draft class as well? Cause that will determine alot of what you should do via draft.

Haha if I need to I'll fire the coach...

And I'll be using generated draft classes, I don't have NCAA.

If Palmers in the game, trade him, for picks or OL help. Id also move Manny Lawson for picks too. Id prob move Benson as well for oline/picks. Id sign a FA like Portis as a stop gap. With expanded rosters id bring in a bunch young guys, ala Tampa Bay.

Basically, treat the first season as a wash. Trade away every player who's definitely not in your long-term plans for picks or young players with potential. For player who might be in your long-term plans, trade them only if the deal is right, otherwise keep them until you find a replacement. Sign a bunch of young free agents with potential to fill any holes on your team. By year two you should have a clearer picture of where your team is headed, and then you can draft and sign free agents accordingly.

Trade Palmer to the Cardinals for Early Doucet!! There are 3 WR's on the Cards depth chart named Williams, so Doucet can go! We need someone better than Kevin Kolb.
