This place makes my head hurt sometimes. They're listening to you guys, they're doing what you guys have asked, and it still isn't good enough. And you know what? It'll probably never be good enough for some of you.
Ill never get it either

Truer words were never spoken Dayman. And like an earlier poster said, the fact that it took them a while to put these "old" features back in doesn't discredit the fact that they are in now. Can't we just enjoy the fact that Franchise Mode will likely be playable and enjoyable, and quit all this Negative Nancy nonsense?

As for the actual features, I'm very excited about what's been released for info so far and I can't wait to hear what other stuff is in store for us come Monday.

However, with noticeable improvements with FM this year, why continue to look back instead of looking forward to the changes being made.

All I'm saying, regarding FM, is that I totally agree with the frustrations of FM from last year to LG, but this year should be something to look forward to. Give criticisms when they are due, but also give props when props are due as well.

(I won't give props until the game is delivered and in my hands, but I'm not looking back either until the game is delivered)
Well said. I've been playing Madden for years and have enjoyed my football experience from year to year very much, and yes at times i have been disappointed that the game doesn't seem to take that evolutionary step from cycle to cycle like I think it should. But, I am on the outside looking in and have no clue about the underlying structure of code in place and what complexities that may present to the developers.

With that said, you win some you lose some. And I believe EA is starting to realize that you can have great yearly sales figures while catering your product to a hardcore audience (like NBA 2K11 did) than creating a game experience aimed at the casual base.

I'm very excited to hear about the dynamic player performance and player roles. I know player roles is a feature they are bringing back, but it seems they have approached this in a much better and thought out way.
So far EA Sports is getting props from me for their effort this year. All we can do is look forward from this point on and take comfort in the thought that at least the communities ideas are being heard and taken into consideration. I can't think of another game that has this type of interaction between fans and the development staff.
Our concerns are being heard and I'm very excited for Madden 12 and beyond.

My understanding is that the PS3/360 version is not a port of the PS2/Xbox version... so... you cannot just say that they new version should have included all the features of the old version. What you have to look at is the development cycle of the old game. How long did it take them to get to the point where they could add player roles on the old gen? It took them many years of development and building on previous years to get things where they were. Starting on a new generation of console is in many ways like starting over. They can't just magically port something over that took years to build on last gen consoles with last gen technology.

Having a yearly contract and a yearly development cycle is tough. For the fans, it would be better for the game to come out every 2 to 3 years, but that just doesn't make financial sense for those involved. That would be like me coming to your job and say "you work 2 years and I will pay you one year's worth of wages". The NFL and EA just aren't going to lose revenue for an entire year to make a better game because they won't sell twice as many copies.

What it means is that developers have X amount of man hours to spend on developing a game and they have to choose what to spend those hours on. It took this long for player roles to make it onto that list. It sucks for us... I agree, but that is the reality of how the world works.

It is easy to sit back and say they should have put this in back in 2009, but if they would have, then you would still be complaining about the feature they left out to put in player roles. That is just the reality of a yearly development cycle.

This is a good link to look at how the series developed on last gen

The beef is with removing a feature, then reintroducing it and marketing it a new improvement. Something they've become notorious for. Not something I've personally done in this thread, but I understand where those ppl are coming from. In the most basic sense, Madden 12 should not be chasing Madden 7's feature set.

Also end of the day this is a results orientated situation. No one cares about the hardships of dealing with a one year dev cycle or how many man hours they have.

Was it removed from the next-gen games? How can it be removed if it was never there?

we need news stories that include things such as draft projections and team needs, attendance fluctuations, visible stadium upgrades, disgruntled players demanding trades, meaningful pre-game preparations ...feel free to add. but the point is that this is hopefully only the tip of the tip of the iceberg. the only real good thing i saw was what appears to be a much better user interface.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.
