Anyone know if this works? (progression related)

I've got this RB (Simmons from the Peters draft) who I would like to concentrate on being more of a 3rd down pass catching back rather than an every down back. I've got J-Stew as my primary back. If I move him to WR before progression takes place, will his receiving ratings get boosted more so than his running ones?

Maybe if you do it before Week 1, but I know you CAN do it.

You have to move him right before the progression, which is any point in time prior to the hiring / firing of coaches / stadium upgrades part of the offseason (so basically, latest possible point is right after the superbowl). I do it almost every year with a few players, making WR into TE so they can develop better run blocking, FB into WR so they can catch better, and sometimes RB into FB so they get FB skills instead.

I'm 100% positive it works, but the player must be in that position prior to the offseason starting. If the player didn't contribute at all for that position and isn't a first year player, the resutls might not be so great. For example, if you have a RB that you want to develop pass catching skills, but he had no receptions, it might not have the intended effects.

Excellent seels, this should work wonderfully in that case.

Yes this works. I do it often. You have to change his position BEFORE you end the season you are currently in, before progression takes place. You can NOT do it after you go into the offseason.

I mostly do it with A rated players that stop progressing in their 'natural' positions.
