As a CASUAL (not always on here) fan, I'm not that excited about Madden...

It used to be, when I was younger , the roster update was enough...but now with created players, trades, custom rosters...I feel that new names on the back of the jerseys is no longer enough...

As far as I can tell, they have fixed some blocking, they've fixed some catches with the catch debugging tool, and last year's game was fun. A lot of people complain about offline franchise mode, but it was immersive enough for me to keep me playing it...(even w/broken stats, I don't look at those so much as trying to get my team to succeed in the W column). Even with no franchise improvements, I would still be definitely buying this game if I was more confident that OL ratings will matter...gameplay will be more responsive, etc...

For the "year of gameplay"...it doesn't seem like they've done a lot. I understand dual stick controls will be a great addition, and I understand gameflow is cute...and locomotion I think probably DOES have to played to appreciate it.

My point is this, after playing every Madden since 93...I DON'T EVEN KNOW what they can do to garner my interest. My biggest things are OL ratings (I loved the other game where if you didn't have an o-line you couldn't run)...and the DB running my route before the WR.

For experienced gamers,...what is going to make you want to buy this game this year? I'm thinking Gus Johnson will help, but NCAA will be a definite buy for me, eventually....

I think I'm in the norm. As games are more expensive , and changing less...anything less than a dramatic NON-GIMMICK feature/gameplay addition doesn't warrant a purchase from me.

I think that EA will have to change it's approach to the changing gamer demographic, and that their ability to do so will be crucial to their Madden success.

Thoughts?

I dont hope there is a lockout but if there is Madden 13 better be the most different, most improved, most realistic, best looking, glitch free football game ever put out. 2 years almost 3 to create ONE game.

I don't see how a lockout will stop Madden being made.

They'll make the game with current rosters, and update them. Unless the NFLPA tries to stop em

Or if it came to it they'd make it with Generic players.

At this point, if I buy it will be out of habit and the NFL license.

I feel you on all your points. I think Madden 11 will be a very good game, and an incremental improvement over Madden 10. But the things that I value in the game were left as an afterthought this cycle, so it is hard for me to justify investing another $60 in EA when I am not a 100% satisfied with the product. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

My biggest issues is I don't have a specific idea. The worst thing to do in sales is to ask , "What can I do to earn your business?" Customers don't know, and they don't always want what they think they want...I think Ian learned this. For me it's just a, "I'll know it when I see it " thing, and I guess in Madden 11, I'm not seeing it. I had a lot of fun with Madden 10, though...so I'll probably wait for the price drop.

... I wanna play with Golden Tate, lol. If the Hawks had drafted Clausen , I would've loved to see what I can do with him.

I should add that I think what Madden needs is WAY BEYOND the standard wishlist type things..."remove rocket catch" won't be enough. That's why I say dramatic change. But I don't know what, and as the consumer it's not my job to...I don't know what the game's capable of. But like I say, I'll buy it when I see it
