What ever happened to classic teams?

The '81 Chargers are my favorite all time team and I used to love playing with them on Madden. Heck, we've seen that retired players can be used for a price..and I think Madden should have reached this point...having real players on classic teams. But even if this is too expensive I don't see why they removed classic teams.

They are long gone bro. I haven't seen classic teams since last Gen madden. I miss them tho. I use to play with them all the time. But I doubt they will ever put them in madden ever again. To much work and to much time to make them.

EA doesn't want to tempt more litigation from retired NFL players for what they consider unauthorized use of their likenesses.

To be fair though, they didn't use the real numbers from the players in Madden...at least not my Eagles.

I honestly dont remember the last time i ever even used them...Last time was like early on PS2 ...maybe 02?

But i guess they should be there...But i dont miss them.

Absolutely miss them. They were the only teams worth playing exhibition games with (now known as Play Now or w/e). I always felt that playing a franchise with a league consisting of the greatest teams in each franchise's history would have been beyond awesome. A division consisting of the '57 Lions, '62 Packers, '69 Vikings, and '85 Bears? Would have been fun.

To this day Madden '93 Championship Edition (the rental-only, Blockbuster exclusive) is one of my favorite versions of madden ever.

While it would be nice to see those classic teams come back I just don't see EA doing it; the money's not there. And for everyone like me who would play it, there's probably 4-5 others who could care less.
