Madden NFL 11 First Look (G4)

G4 has posted their first look at Madden NFL 11.

Showing a stadium in various stages of attendance is just a tweak. It’s also further evidence that EA is serious about revamping the game to make it more like the genuine event."

Decent preview, The Superbowl mode is just play now with the Superbowl feel. Not really exciting or anything. But the pregame presentation sounds really cool.

"But it’s the gameplay that’s really changed. First, you’re asked to don a headset, almost as if you’re playing Modern Warfare 2 . It’s unsettling and weird, at first. But then you get it. You’re the quarterback and what’s coming through the headset is similar to what comes through the helmet of, say, Jets phenom Mark Sanchez. The offensive coordinator is suggesting a play given the situation on the field.

He’s not only suggesting a play; he’s briefly explaining why he’s calling the play. And that clarity is something that’s always been lacking in Madden. You’ll also see the same words pop up at the bottom of your TV screen with keywords highlighted in yellow. After you hear the play called, you might hear the play-by-play announcers offering up color commentary. The whole experience has moments that are so immersive and so different, it’s evocative of movies like Any Given Sunday. "

This could be REALLY cool and go a long way towards making Franchise Mode an immersive experience. I know it's unlikely for this year, but if they added comments from your OC and DC that were relevant to what was going on in real time....wow. For example, if your running game is just struggling hearing the OC say, "Let's air it out some more, we're not running well", or if your QB is just sucking it up or if you're up big hearing the OC say, "Let's pull this guy" would be awesome.

In off-season, getting suggestions from scouts a la Head Coach would be sweet as well.

They should have just put in a playoff mode instead of going strait to the Superbowl, if you want to go strait to the Superbowl just sim.

Or it could be similar dialog from "Ask Madden" in the past just coming through a headset.

Great preview, I wonder how Gameflow will work when your playing your friend at your house though? Can that be done because of the play art shown on the field?
