One year ago today...
The abomination known as Madden 2009 went gold.
I wonder when Madden 2010 goes gold. Are the devs and QA guys trying to test this as long as possible before giving it the go ahead? I have noticed Ian posting lesser in the past few days due to what could possibly be considered an "increased workload" to meet the deadline.
I hope and assume that the deadline is being stretched out as far as possible this year. I tried to check previous years gold dates and could only find two somewhat recent articles on Google stating the 2004 and 2005 iterations went gold on July 30th and July 19th respectively.
I have noticed the vast improvements from last year on game play and presentation in the videos that I have seen so far this year. I certainly commend Ian and his interaction with the community and his efforts to make this game as good as possible. I also realize that given the time frame and man hours available what is and is NOT possible. Needless to say if all current gen Maddens had progressed in the fashion the current one is shaping up, Ian and his team would not be in the situation they are in right now trying to right the wrongs for 4 years of lack of work and innovation.
I wonder if the past years they were just rushing out a product? Sticking with the same ol' same and cranking it out as quickly as possible to limit man hours and cut down on costs? Please take notice (I couldn't find the info for gold dates from Madden 2006-2008) how the the gold dates have progressively gotten earlier.
Hopefully that is not the case this year and it will go until Mid-July before it goes gold to ensure the most possible realistically tuned and bug free game comes out this year.
Ian, if you read this, thank you so very much for your community interaction and your dedication to a "sim" football experience. I am sure you work tirelessly to appease everyone, but everything has its limitations. I am sure whatever you couldn't get to this year will at least be attempted to be addressed for the 2011 edition.
