I've been reading a lot of previews and watching interviews about Madden the past couple of weeks. Everything I have seen seems to be very positive and the game is definitely looking better than ever. However, as I'm taking in all of this information I can't help but notice that Madden (like so many other sports games) seems to be focusing more and more on the online features. I completely understand that many people enjoy playing online an to each their own. However, for me, I simply prefer to play regular, offline dynasties. And unfortunately for me, what I like to do may not be as enjoyable because EA has to spend a considerable amount of development time on online features. Something that they did not have to focus on 5-6 years ago.

I'm just curious for those on this site (true sports sim players), what kind of features that you are looking for in Madden from year to year.

Strictly franchise mode.

Just franchise mode. I'll play friends online sometimes and I've tried playing Online. But, people just don't play the right way. One of two things has happened 90% of the times I've tried online.

A) The guy got the ball first and kept passing each and every down. I eventually picked one off, scored a touchdown, and he tried it again. After he either failed (after always going for it on 4th down) or threw another pick and then he quits.

B) I got the ball first and the guy engaged eight on every down. If I scored a long TD...he quit.

That's the thing. I've thought about trying to join a league here at OperationSports.com because people on here (for the most part) play a sim style game. Punting the ball, not using the same plays over and over, etc. However I think the problem would be getting 32 people that could play regularly and keep up with everything (myself included). It would be really cool if I had a lot of time devoted to it but offline franchises allows me to play when I want to play.

Offline Franchise ONLY!!! Thats what represents the NFL the best, so thats what i play. If i had xbox live i woult try out online chise, but i think it till take till next year to meet expectations for that mode anyways.

its hard to say for me because 08 and 09 on 360 i mostly played online because in 08 the run game was unstoppable and the pass game was atrocious and 09 was a duffed up but i would play anyways. franchise in both were a joke because rbs were like 2 ton trucks pulling trailers and 09 had the worst pass defense i've ever seen where guys would get out of the way of the ball so the receiver could catch and i'm still in week on in 09 cuz tom brady is jesus christ with the ball. last gen i woul say franchise hands down without even thinking. hopefully madden 10 has more balance between franchine and online.

Have always played offline.. hate playing online.. BUT I'll probably try out online franchise this year, even if its not quite complete i think it will be really cool. Once Madden 11 hits though, and the OF is in full effect, i don't think i'll be able to get off my 360.

I might try online franchise with my brother, but very unlikely. I like to play when I have time.
