But I see what you are getting at. However earlier in the 2nd play the ball carrier runs right next to the engaged player and could have easily been tackled (or atleast slowed down a little) had the defender stuck his arm out to grab him. Like Valdarez asked will we be able to do something like this or will we have to completely break away from the block, turn up field, and try to make the tackle?
IMO, if the defender would have tackled the ball carrier it would have been highly unrealistic. It's very hard to take down a ball carrier from the side while you're engaged, add on top of that the fact you're running. I agree, sticking on arm out there would be a nice animation in that instant even if he is just "grasping" at air.

BTW, apex, the monotone-ness is killing me.

And I hope that was just a demostration, because I sure don't wanna see Ngata kill 80-85+ rated pass blocking lineman like they are nothing 1 on 1.
Ngata didn't really "kill" Adams(the LT) on the play. The only reason Ngata got to Romo was because he rolled outside of the pocket and directly into the area that Adams was steering Ngata.

I think Ian did that to demostrate that the roll and chuck is done for Madden 10, and QBs will get the best protection while inside of the pocket.

Grabbing a hold, if only to slow down the ball carrier for a bit, or alter their running path though would be a very nice addition. I bet the ProTak can provide it since it's procedural. They'll just have to code for it.

i think the video should have showed the whole team blocking not just one player. The reason i say that is because the person who was doing the video could have went to replay and choose the best person blocking on that play. What about the rest of the team.

What about the pocket i would like to see that develop and everything.

So the accuracy took a hit while throwing on the run, is it similar to the accuracy hit in 2k8 ?? Were you permitted to hold the sprint button/trigger and throw simultaneously; did the QB have to set his feet to throw accurately ? This is was stopped the roll and chuck in 2k8; it was simply impossible to consistently complete passes while throwing on the run. Basically will the roll and chuck in madden finally be dead and buried come 8.14.09 ?

How about McNabb, Vince Young or Romo ?

Ideally I'd like the DE/OLB's to be 1 step away from the QB as he bounces off his heels in his drop. They have to get up the field. I don't mind the QB stepping under and in that lane. Thank You!!!

That is exactly what I wanted to hear...it has bugged me to no end to see the previous games over and over turn into the "roll-and-chuck" offense. If that is truly tuned to force people to realize it is not a very good idea to do on every play then I will be a seriously happy camper!

Much appreciated LB...

same from me LB..."Roll and Chuck" must Die

Hopefully Now when someone escapes/extends the pocket it will be looked at as true skill rather than cheese

In real life, unless that guy is getting held, there is no reason why he can't chase after the ballcarrier after he's ran past him. Instead he's trapped in a really long animation...without the ability to branch out or 'steer', you can't control how the defense reacts to the play.
Hopefully the game will consider another scenario where it's difficult for a defender to disengage. When a big lineman is pushing a defender what sometimes happens when the defender attempts to disengage is he gets shoved to the ground (pancaked) by the blocker. This should happen pretty often when getting blocked by a good run blocker who is much stronger than the defender.

This is where technique is really important. A good defender will keep the blocker at arm's length, basically not letting the blocker get into his chest. This allows him to disengage quickly without much resistance from the blocker. Demarcus Ware is great at this.
