The old DB coach in me just busted a nut.

Thanks.

Agreed; fades are such a big part of many team's offense now, especially near the goal line.

Hand fighting? "Pop" animations to eliminate the scrape effect (WRs hung up on zone defenders)? Actual momentum shifts on routes?

I never thought I'd see the day. I have been playing Madden for over 10 years now, and I am in awe of the priorities that this Dev team has.

You guys really seem to care, and I am now officially a fanboy.

I had the same concern but on comparing the first video to the second, you can see that the WR in the second vid (The DB coverage one) is running a much sharper route than the first video.

I think this first video was with a lower rated route runner just to over emphasize the effects of deceleration and momentum.

In the first video the reciever takes 4 steps to decelerate before pushing off his left foot whilst in the second video the WR only needs a couple of steps before he pushes off and turns in.

As Ian said, I quote "We are also utilizing the route running rating much more now when selecting these animations. We totally re-tuned which cut moves play (and how 'open' the WR gets) based on an elite/agile/non-agile separation in regards to that rating"

I believe that in this first video the reciever was definately in the non-agile catagory.

Re: Latest Madden NFL 10 blog - WR/DB Interaction

I can't figure out what could be bigger news than this in terms of gameplay and we're in march?!?!?!?!

i now fully expect a o/d line interaction post () within the next couple of weeks and then what???? does anyone know what else about gameplay could be bigger than those two.

donny or josh will post something on the new franchise format but i'd be expect that to come out much closer to release so it can be a major advertising point...can't upset the marketing department now can we!!!!

i really don't know what else they can tell us after the o/d line post???? o/d line interation will fix the running game so that ties in.

ANY IDEAS??

anyway onto the post itself......

In the first video... can you give us a idea of what the recievers' acceleration and route running ratings were? or would it be possible to post a video of a player with faster and slower acc and route running just so we can see how much the recievers are affected by their ratings.

i love the slower acceleration but i would like an idea of what the players acc rating was?
I like the the reciever's route turn but im worried that he decelerated a tad too much... i don't think he needs to come to a stop before turning- but as stated above this may be to do with the receivers route running rating?! any chance we could get a video of players with higher and lower route running ratings to compare??

i don't have much to say on the db/wr interaction video... was too short for me too make a fair analysis but i like that you're making changes.

the wr/db jostling looks a little (alot) prettier than in 09 when the db accidently runs infront of the wr on streaks and the wr gets stuck/locked behind him unable to get past! which ratings will determine how succesful gettting away from (for the wr) or containing (for the db) the jostling will be?

love that players with average route running will now slip in the rain!!!!! hopefully this can be incorporated into the running game
some how too aswell as on the defensive side... could db's slip in the rain and leave a wr completely open?? any ideas what rating would need to be low for this too happen from the community??

ecstatic that the suction press ani has been taken out... looked ugly.

all in all i'm rather worried that mere words on a computer screen are starting to desolve my apathy towards madden 10 and disgust for EA... in all honesty im rather enthused by the prospect of future blogs and the game itself!!!! never thought i'd say that 6 months ago when my 09 was defying global warming and freezing every 10 minutes!!!

good job guys.
