Ratings spread
Is anyone else pretty sure that spreading the ratings out is an incredibly bad idea?
I know that the 60-99 spread is something we've complained about for years, but I just see this as making the "speed kills" thing worse.
Example: My brother and I are running a Heisman dynasty right now in NCAA and we're about four years in. I have a reciever who has a 71 overall and a 98 on speed. He's unstoppable. Yes, he's leading the NCAA in drops but he also has 24 touchdowns and 1600 yards and we're 10 games in. He's averaging 31 yards a catch. The only fair thing for me to do is to simply ignore an open receiver.
We all know SPD is and has been a problem on both Madden and NCAA. But imagine for a minute if the ratings are spread. Having a guy with a 95+ spd creates more of a problem. Now he's lining up against corners who have a seventy five on speed? I know the example Ian used said that your speedy slot receiver might drop every third pass, but that's two forty-yarders before that drop. And then two after.
Also, special teams becomes a problem. Your special teams are made up of second and third stringer who now have 70s on speed. Punt returning should be... interesting with speedsters.
I like the idea overall. There should be more of a difference between great players and average players. But if they keep the current AI and play calling and simply move ratings around, trust me, I'll be trading for Ted Ginn every year...
