The bottom line with Madden is the gameplay is stale, bugged (TO issue) and many features (franchise, effective sliders) are broken. NFL2k5 or not.

The fact that EA released a game with a franchise mode so bugged and broken is #1 on my list of what annoys me the most. With the horrible turnover problem a close #2.

You can feel free to say how it doesn't bother you (since you've already pointed out you also bought the PS2 version just to play your Madden 08 franchise) but there are plenty of people it does bother. Some people find the notion of having to buy the same game with the same advertised features on 2 systems to use all the modes a bit ridiculous. And that has nothing to do with being an EA ***** because of exclusivity or how great the 4 year old NFL2k5 was.

Many people here are not EA haters. They just want an improved and/or at least functional football game.

Not because 2k had a franchise mode, but because working franchise/season modes have been around since Tecmo Bowl II.
First and foremost, please don't wag your finger at me. Thanks.

Second, I always bring it up?? I just mentioned how I thought the game was getting better and right on que, here came the post that reminded me that it can't be getting better or even if it is getting better, its still not good.

Third, I don't paint everyone an EA ***** or that they can't get over the exclusive deal because they have issues with Madden. If that was the case, then I would have to label myself as an EA *****.

Finally. I am guessing you didn't read my entire post. I mentioned that I have problems/issues with the game. Examples?

*Excessive turnovers
*Broken franchise
*30fps on PS3
*Bad pursuit angles
*Radio guy

You can try and make me out as the bad guy or the fall guy all you want. Hell, you'll probably get people to agree with you. I really don't care. All I have been trying to do is discuss the game. To express my excitement over the next installment. But, it seems that no matter where, when, or what I say positive about the game, I am constantly reminded of its negative aspects as if I overlook them or sweep them under the rug.

Is there anything in the world that you believe to be objectively flawed?

I don't mean subjectively flawed like Coors vs Bud (Both bad choices, but given a gun to the head choice I pick Bud).

But I mean something like "Poop does not taste good"? Even if someone likes to eat poop, we can all agree that it's not good and it tastes bad.

Madden is poop.

It is not a good representation of football.

Things that happen in real life don't happen in Madden.

Madden is not an accurate representation of real life, the player models don't look realistic, they are not proportionately drawn to what human beings look like, and the game is dumbed down for a mass audience.

That's poop.

And this forum is not only pro EA, it's modded and controlled so that anti-Madden threads cannot even exist!

You wonder why people consistently talk negatively about Madden?

They unfairly and monopolistically control the NFL license, therefore eradicating true competition.

This means that their game MUST meet all NFL fans needs, it must meet all football fans needs who want to control their NFL teams.

It not only doesn't come close, it's a VERY VERY far cry from being anything that looks like an NFL game.

We (Or at least I) am not an EA *****.

I hate them as a company, I think that they are monopolistic and their profits taking a hit are the ultimate karma.

However I will consistently buy their games if they are better than their competition (Last year I purchased NCAA, FIFA, and NHL).

Until Madden is even 50% as good as NFL2K5, I will continue to rail against it and those who are trying to put lipstick on a pig and tell me that everything's good this year.

So if a player drops out, you can easily add another player and the schedule will adjust to get them their games.
Any indication whether the Madden leagues stats/standings/schedule, etc. will be on the PC?

Good post...

I just read the IGN article about the online leagues...As I don't really care for the online "league" experience (prefer franchise mode), I'm glad I don't too.

Compared to what you can do in an on-line league in a game such as NBA 2K8 versus Madden I would say this online league thing is just another Madden/EA "gimmick" to throw some "new" feature out there in the hopes of increasing sales.

If I did want to do an online league I sure as hell wouldn't want my first experience being Madden nor would I purchase this game for sake of having online leagues.

Oh,...

And the video looks the same as last year, but just w/ a new score menu and cool looking snow.

First and foremost, that has to be the oddest comparison that I have ever seen. That one will stand out in my mind for months, maybe years to come.

And you really don't need "anti-Madden threads" of their own, there are plenty of "anti-Madden" posts littered about the various threads. In fact, they are probably in the greater number than those of people who like the game.

More importantly, instead of "railing" the game and anyone who buys it, why not stay out of the forum? That way, you can save yourself the trouble of "protecting the world from the evil EA/Madden" and more time doing something else that you enjoy, and those of us who are going to get the game and would like to discuss Madden, don't have to sift through nonsense posts such as these.

How are you able to compare them so accurately already? I take it you've played the game? You have no idea of all the options the admin has or other things the online league might offer except for what was announced. And how is this a gimmick? People have wanted online leagues for the longest and now that it's in it's a gimmick?

Agreed.

Online leagues in Madden could be the worst thing ever, the best thing since sliced bread, or somewhere in between, which is where it will most likely end up.

Wow! I really went out on a limb there didn't I?

This is what I don't get. I voiced my opinion on how I think the game has gotten better and I have to be reminded on how it can't be and how its still not as good as 2k.

I played 2k. I liked it, but I prefer Madden. Thats why I post in this forum. Maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but it gets frustrating that anytime I, or someone who likes Madden, posts something positive or something that we are excited about, we are constantly reminded of the negative aspects of the game and how the game still fails in comparison to 2K5.

As a Madden fan, , I know its shortcomings. And I have problems with the game that I hope are addressed each and every year. But despite all its shortcomings and negative aspects, I still enjoy the game. I shouldn't have to "defend" my enjoyment of the game everytime I try to express my enjoyment for the game.
Personally, i really do NOT care if you like the game or not. I will never attack someone for liking something. Even if i think its crap (which i do). Thats your choice, but for me, i want a good football game. I want something as good or better then NFL2k5. Its been almost 4 years as i have said, and EA hasnt came even close. NOt even in the same ballpark . Again, this is my opinion, but people are finally starting to realize that EA is pulling a fast one on them. It takes other longer to realize it, and others that just say, well hell, this is all i got.

If people didnt moan and groan about something, then companies will NEVER fix it. Hell, i am a mod for the 2k forums and we have to make threads and ask the "fans" what was broken, what can the developers do to make the game better. I go and sift through every single post and turn in a report on what's broken and what idea's i think would be cool. I get to submit my report to the 2k PR manager and he submits it to the dev's. He then tells me what they think is cool and could possible be fit into the game. I would love for other companies to do that. Again, the fans know what works and what doesnt work. WE are the ones playing the game 500 times over.

This is 2008. Its time to go next gen. IMO EA took steps back.
