Bill's Realism Sliders (only Coach Mode for now)

PLEASE NOTE: This is the final revision until after the next major patch is released. There's no point in rebalancing 3-4 times.

These were developed for Franchise mode players. I can't vouch for them in any other mode, although you can try them if you'd like.

Much thanks to the beta testers: Mrprice33, Cubit, Freddy Gabriel (Ankido), KingsRock91, HC0023, Nex, UKSLAMJAM, and a few other guys who haven't sent me their preferred handle yet.

SEPTEMBER 9
v 1.1 with the following changes:
QB Accuracy to 25
WR Catching to 50
Broken Tackles to 5
Run Blocking to 75
Fumbles to 32
Pass Defense Reaction Time to 85
Tackling to 75

AUGUST 23
COACH MODE SLIDERS v1.0
Notes:
--In this mode, CPU and Human settings are identical.
--Quarter length should be set to whatever gets you about 110 total plays. I use 12-minute quarters, but you may need to lower that, depending on how quickly you call plays.
--The setting for player minimum speed threshold was established after stopwatch testing in practice mode. it's the same methodology I used last year.
--I like the number of minor injuries I get in a game, but it may be annoying to you, and if it is, lower the injury setting.
--There are about 16 penalties a game called in the NFL, and and false starts and holding are called about four times each. I focused on holding, since the slider actually works. If you think there are too many holding calls, lowering the slider will reduce the number of calls.
--Kick returns are broken in the sense that the CPU can never return the ball more than 20-25 yards ( if they even get that far). Sorry, that's an engine problem.
--Punt accuracy is also broken (a carryover from last year). When the CPU tries to punt out of bounds, instead of hitting the coffin corner, they'll shank it about 25 yards. Again, that's an engine issue.
--Since Special Teams sliders only have one setting (CPU/Human have to be identical), the Human kicker has a significant advantage. If you want to match the CPU's kicking ability, kick at 80-85% of the kicking meter. Fortunately, since the meter moves so slowly, that's easy to do.

Re: Bill's Realism Sliders (only Coach Mode for now)

This is my first post on OS. I just started a new franchise with the Seahawks and used these sliders for the first regular season game against SF. I was using my own sliders but these blew mine away. I won 17-14 in a hard fought game by getting a FG with 16 sec left in the 4th qtr. It was great!! By far the most realistic game I have played on madden ever. I made a table for the game, but OS won't let me post it till I have 5 posts, so maybe some other time. I play with 15min qtrs and 20sec runoff and I dropped the INJ slider to 50, but I used everything else exactly. Thanks for whatever work went into these because they are AWESOME!!

Quick question Bill,

1. How much time does the QB have in the pocket on average?

2. How do pancakes look for both sides?

3. How many sacks are you seeing a game on average?

Re: Bill's Realism Sliders (only Coach Mode for now)

I think the break tackle slider needs to be adjusted down a little because I just played against the rams in my seahawks franchise and steven jackson broke the single game rushing record with 317 yds!?! Most of his yds came from breaking 5-6 tackles and running 50-80 yds, twice for a score. Also, I know Hasselbeck isn't the greatest qb, but he's missing wide open guys by 5-10 yds when his feet are set and there's no pressure. I think the qb accuracy might need to go up a few ticks. Not griping, just reporting what I'm seeing in game. Otherwise, these are still great sliders for coach mode.

Re: Bill's Realism Sliders (only Coach Mode for now)

Hi Bill,

I have to say i love your sliders so far.
I played 2 games and i really enjoyed them

First game:
Steelers (Me) @ Falcons

Michael Turner destroyed me with 25 rushing attempts and
197 rushing yards and made the play(and player) of the game with a 56 yard rushing TD
Matt Ryan with 7-13 and 86 passing yards 1 TD 0 Int, but they
rushed most of the time.

Big Ben had 12-26 and 157 passing yards with 1 TD 0 Int
after a really bad start (-12 yards in the 1st Quarter)

At the end i lost 26-14, but really enjoyed the game, felt really good!

Second game:
Eagles (Me) @ Chiefs

Was a tough defensive battle at the beginning of the game, but then
Kolb with a pass to Baskett for a 67 yard TD, that was nice
Kolb was the player of the game with 18-29 and 222 passing yards,
2 TD and 0 Int. LeSean McCoy (16 Att, 89 Yards) and Mike Bell (3 Att,
24 Yards) with a solid running game

Chiefs played some good D and made some big gains, but they only could score 3 field goals, so at the end i won the game 17-9

Thanks for these sliders, cant wait to start my franchise
