(PS3) M12 Attempting All-Time Team rosters...OS Community

Work in progress...This set is going to have between 53-75 historic and current players on each team. Mainly, the players from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's.

If you'd like to lend a hand with editing the roster, let me know. Please post any suggestions you may have on equipment, players to include, QB styles, ratings, etc. It's much appreciated.

Well, I'm scaling the overalls so not everyone is 90+. You'll see players rated from about 70 to 99. This is an all-time roster, so players that get in pretty much warrant a 70+ rating.
I have a few resources I'm using. I focus on highlighting the strengths and weaknesses. And then I adjust the other ratings to the best of my knowledge and resources. For the most part, the scale I have been using has been great.
The 2 games I've played have played great. Niners-Cowboys. You can see the difference in the Lotts, Rices, Smiths etc. They're game changers. And then the 2nd/3rd tier players like John Taylor or Keena Turner, they make plays, but they're not dominating games the way the superstars have so far.
If you have any suggestions for rating players, I would appreciate the input.

sounds good man. i am interested in putting together an all time single teams roster where i would focus on each franchise's best team they ever had. i know this has been done on other games but not on madden 12 as far as i know since its still so new. anyway i have had an idea on how to calculate a players overall rating using pro-football-reference.com, they list an apporximate value for a player in each season he has played. so i had an idea of calculating player overalls using this number but i wanted to calculate from using 3 years, which would be the year of, the year before, and the year after the year in question. the reason i do this is to normalize players overall ratings so that they wont be too high or too low but more or less around what he would normally be. for example if john elway had an off year then my formula might tell me that he is an 80 ovr for that year, but we all know that elway is way better then that so by doing a 3 year average that off year will bring him down some but hell more then likely still be a 90 ovr. so he had an off year but hes still elway. this works both ways too, if a player has a breakout season he wont be a 99 but will be rated higher then he normally is. this test the players consistency. of course if he has played less then 3 years then i have no choice but to calculate the years that i have from him. anyway sorry for the long post but this is what i have so far. but as far as individual ratings and tendencies im not real sure about.

Yea, I'm actually using AV as a tool to decide which players to use for teams. Let me know what you get with that formula and how it works. I'd be interested in using a method like that as well if you didn't mind. It would be interesting to see your method possibly used for an entire career.

for a career overall rating, or what i call putting a player in his prime, i would use his best 3 year stretch from his entire career. this shows consistency from the player and doesnt over inflate him just because he played so many years. so it would be his best av for any 3 consecutive years. i also use av per game, so this would help with older players who didnt play as many games and therefore could not generate the raw stats that players can now in order to bring up his av score. this also helps with players that were good and were even having a good year but got injured so therefore could not play enough games to generate a very high av. here is the formulas that i have so far. i havent extensively tested these but for some random people that i selected to test they turned out pretty reasonable overalls. more testing would be done when actually making a team.

What does the second column represent?
For example, 99=1.1 for QBs?
If 99 is the rating, what does 1.1 represent?
thanks

This is great. I'm going to pretty much use this same method. I might do some more ranges though. So the top 1% in average AV will range from 95-99 overall. The top 2% will range from 93-97, etc.

For the most part though, I'm just using AV as a reference. I want the players to play like themselves, so in some instances, their overall won't correlate to their average AV. But it will always be close.
