It's Still Way Too Easy to Outbuild CPU in CFM

These new nerfed draft classes, combined with bad CPU logic make it so easy to build a powerhouse team in 3-4 season that the CPU can never replicate.

I play it straight, I don't cheese, I don't make unrealistic trades. In fact, I don't do drills so that my players can never earn more than Bronze. I still manage to out draft and out develop the other 31 teams every year.

Don't get me wrong, CFM is much improved, but I am in year 4 and it is getting a little stale as there's not much of a challenge now.

I was in favor of keeping the default, higher rated rookie classes because it kept the CPU teams competitive. Now that there are fewer good players, I can still find them and draft many of them while the CPU just follows it's algorithm. When I see the stud MLB in the 5th round I take him in the 4th, the CPU NEVER does this. I can get every player I want (WITHOUT CHEATING) and that shouldn't happen.

It also seems to do a poor job of selecting whom to do focus training on, so even when it gets a Quick/Superstar Dev player or player in a position of need, it fails to develop them.

I wish there was more of a challenge. I wish there were at least a few teams each season that had great player development. I wish the CPU stole some picks early. I mostly just wish I could be beaten by the CPU in the off-season once in a while.

I'm interested in hearing more about this, as I have not encountered this myself.

Here is a couple questions I have,

are you using a set of xp sliders? if so, which ones?

are you auto progressing your players or doing it manually?

how often do you progress your players and how often does the CPU progress theirs?

The issue I have is with the CPU drafting QBs in the 1st and 2nd round in the same draft.

Especially considering most draft classes maybe have 2-3 really draftable QBs they end up with a 57OVR player in the 2nd round.

To semi-combat this I just write down teams who pick certain positions in the first round (say QB at #3) and save after the first round, then again when it's their pick. If they once again draft the same spot high I exit out and try again.

If it repeats, I reload again but this time assume their coach, trade back, and retire the coach. They get more picks and don't redraft the same spot. From the 3rd round on if they want to draft same position so be it.

I am using TDawggs sliders for the most part. I adjusted a few but they are all close to his.

I manually progress most of the players and auto-progress 10-15.

I use 4 week progression because it seems the CPU does an optimal job at that setting according to what I read on TDawggs thread.

There are still some stud players in the league at each position, but overall, top to bottom, my roster always ends up being much better. Than any CPU team.

I am in year 4 with the Eagles and it's just been too easy. I don't cheese, I don't rip off the CPU, I play straight and it gets frustrating that it is so easy anyway.

Id recommend auto progressing all your players every 4 weeks to keep them in line with the CPUs players.

I find I draft quite well. If you put the time into it you can usually plan out a pretty good draft class. You could start limiting yourself as to how many attributes you scout. Maybe only scout two attributes, maybe only scout one. Then that will probably balance out your draft classes some.

That's what i'm going to start doing I think, draft 1 round, sim the next, draft the next, sim the next, etc.

It's the only way to not have the best draft class every year. It sucks, because I love drafting more than anything in CFM.
