Allocating XP

Hey guys, I am wondering how most people allocate their XP to players they value the most? For example, I run a spread offense where about 65% of my plays or from the shotgun, 20% from the Pistol, and 15% under center. I also run a fair amount of read option and plays where I can get my QB in open space. Where can I get the most "bang for my buck" when using XP points?

Re: Allocating XP

I only give XP to my defensive players generally my defensive backs because it's harder to reach those goals than the offensive ones

Re: Allocating XP

I think he may have been asking about the allocation of points earned in the game, not just the gameprep

Check this article out: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/madden/

It gives the outline of how player attributes are weighed in relation to their overall. It's also a fantastic read regardless.

I always refer to this site when upgrading players.

Re: Allocating XP

Unfortunately, I've heard from multiple sources that the attribute weighting information supplied in the FiveThirtyEight article isn't correct. If I can find a link I'll post it here, but that's what I remember hearing.

Personally, I tend to not focus on OVR anyway. For any position which I rely on the CPU, I'll focus on AWR first, skill ratings second; AWR is the general CPU intelligence for a player, so I try to focus on that to get my CPU teammates in position if nothing else. For positions which I have more control over - QB, RB - I'll go to the skill ratings more often before AWR, but still keep AWR in mind.

Re: Allocating XP

I hope you're wrong lol. That would suck if I've been putting xp into the wrong attributes for this long.

Re: Allocating XP

The objectI've when spending xp is to use it to make the players good at what you want them to do. Overall doesn't matter. If you want your prototype olb to be great in coverage you should spend xp on man and zone coverage. His overall may not go up accordingly since man and zone coverage are not big factors for a prototype olb but he will be a good coverage linebacker. I try to balance spending xp to not make someone only be able to do one thing but a couple of things and build a playbook around that. If I have a good zone blocker at Lt I will put plays in my book that have outside runs to that side. If I have a bm at rt I will do power runs that way. I want my rolb to be a pass rusher so I spend xp on that but also on zone coverage so he is not one dimensional. My playbook will consist of plays where he is almost always rushing the passers-by or in zone coverage.
