Power/finesse moves?

What do you prefer
I prefer finesse over power moves.

Finesse Moves definitely. Power moves you just push the lineman and never seem to shed off the block.

I use finesse on players with high speed/acc and I use power on players with high str.

I have a lot of success with LE using the power move and pushing stick away from line so he shoves the tackle out to the side.

All depends on the player I'm using. Finesse moves with a speedy guy can leave the lineman grabbing at air but power moves with a strength guy to push the lineman right into the qbs lap for a sack or bad throw.

For the first two years in my Ravens CFM I had Suggs and Dumervil.

As most of you know, Suggs is a beast with power moves while Doom is excellent with finesse moves.

Here is what I noticed:

Finesse moves lead to more situations where the rusher quickly beats his man and gets a free hit on the QB, but it also seems to be higher risk as well. Sometimes Doom would blow past his man, but he was also prone to losing clearly and being removed from the play.

Power moves with Suggs on the other hand were different. He did not get nearly as much instant pressure, but he also very rarely "lost." He had more coverage sacks then Doom and the longer the QB held the ball, the more at risk he was from Suggs. Suggs also always maintained a position where he could make a play on his side, such as the QB trying to scramble or a short pass to Suggs' side of the field.

It basically comes down to finesse moves have a higher chance of "winning" on that first move, but if he fails there isn't much of a second effort.

I did not factor in matchups however. Doom went up against LTs while Suggs was up against RTs. And there are other considerations as well (other ratings like acc and the like)
