What makes a good Running Back?

I don't know what to look for in RB for my online Connected Franchise. I have Steelers and Lagarrette Blount doing great but i was struggling with Leveon Bell. I even ran better with Dri Archer and my free agent pickup Evan Royster.

I haven't found what stat is holding back Bell.

I also tested and found i run well with Ronnie Brown, D'Anthony Thomas, and some other average RB's.

Any thoughts?

Re: What makes a good Running Back?

I'd look for four things mainly:

1. Elusiveness
2. Ball carrier vision
3. Acceleration
4. Pass block OR catching

Elusiveness helps you elude defenders. Ball carrier vision helps you not run into your own blockers. Yes, it DOES make a difference even for humans. Test it out for yourself. Acceleration is obvious. Once you find a running lane, you want to hit it quickly. If you throw to the HB a lot, obviously you'll want him to have a decent catch rating. If not, I like to use slide protection to blitzes nad then have the HB pass block the weak side.

When I tested Blount vs Bell, Bell had higher in all those categories, but it felt like Blount was hitting the holes faster.

Confidence... If bell isn't doing well is more than likely your problem.

To me it just sounds like YOU are in a slump with him. Its a classic madden situation where one player seems to do everything right and the other cant do a thing. Enter the next game with patience that Bell and youll find yourself having a bit more success.

Pass back is the best way.

Re: What makes a good Running Back?

Honestly, i have more success in my Panthers CFM with putting Tolbert at RB and running up the gut. His strength and trucking get tough yards where my other backs get knocked down easily and don't have the speed to get the edge with my sorry OL.

It's all situational and depends greatly on your personnel and play style.
