How do you edit rosters for CFM without worrying about salary cap & trade interest?

Sorry for such a basic question, but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I can't find it anywhere.

I'm trying to create a custom roster for a future play-through of Connected Franchise Mode and the only place I can find to edit rosters is Customize -> Manage Rosters.

From there, the only way I see to move players between teams is to "trade" them, which means the trade can be turned down due to no interest or salary restrictions.

Where do I edit the rosters to whatever I want without having to worry about that?

I just want to play a fun, casual CFM with custom rosters and I'm banging my head against the wall because I can't figure it out.

Cut them, then sign them with the other team. It resets the contracts
