Doesn't matter...DE ratings do not matter at all in the game....

I agree with you in some way. However with the whole new Defense revamp in M15, I'm sure they will play a bigger part.

Cmon now. We know ratings need improvement if not a complete overhaul but ratings certainly make a difference... Height and weight? Not at all. 95STR vs 75STR? Huge difference.

Just because 4-3 DEs traditionally get more sacks doesn't make them better players. 3-4 DEs are traditionally stronger and better against the run.
You could say 3-4 DEs are more important than 4-3 DEs, due to the fact their job is to take up the blockers and allow the OLB to get to the QB faster. A 4-3 DE acts like a 3-4 OLB whose sole purpose is to rush the passer.

I think the issue here is Madden grouped the 3-4 and 4-3 DE together as if they do the same thing. Same issue with Defensive Tackles. Madden groups 3-4 NT and 4-3 DT in the same group. Like you can't stick Gerald McCoy as a 3-4 NT it just doesn't work. A 4-3 DT would kick out to a DE in a 3-4, ala Haloti Ngata. A 4-3 DE converts to a OLB in a 3-4.

It's time for Madden to seperate the schemes so it's more realistic.

Ratings, as they are, make no difference.....Sliders make the difference....

Ratings make a very, very, very slight difference - and the way Madden bunches their ratings you won't know the difference between a 60 ovr player and a 90.

Now you main ratings that Madden does use, like essentially speed only..that makes a difference...Strength, no difference..****n block and pass block, nothing but maybe 2 extra seconds in the pocket between a pass block of 90 and a pass block of 1....

I will have to double check strength....but if I recall, no difference......but if strength does make a difference, then SPeed, Strength and maybe awareness.....

I have MvM ad zone coverage at 1 for all LB's and DB's on my Lions test team...not much of a difference.

TEsted on "all-pro" with all sliders and penalty sliders at 50.....

now gonna try with "custom" level with all sliders on 50 and see if that makes a difference..

Re: Madden NFL 15 Top Defensive Ends

Currently - CPU, HUM and Penalty sliders set at 50...Custom skill level

Jets defense: DE's and DT's following ratings set to 1:
Tackle
Power MOve
Finesse move
block shed
pursuit
play recognition
man cover
zone cover
hit power
press
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lions defense: following ratings set to 1: for DL, LB's.

Defensive line: Tackle = 1

Linbackers and Defensive backs, following all at 1.
Tackle
Power MOve
Finesse move
block shed
pursuit
play recognition
man cover
zone cover
hit power
press

DB's (corners and safeties) following ratings set to 1:
Tackle
Man Cover
Zone Cover
---------------------------------------------------------------------

beginning of 2nd quarter: Lions 10 and jets 7....Lions safety inercepts a pass for a TD by jumping a route he should not be able to jump with no man or zone skills.....so those ratings are useless too....
