Seahawks Triangle Defense

On MNF last night Jon Gruden was illustrating and showing the Seahawks triangle defense and it was basically a triangle between the corners and one high safety with zone coverage underneath. Does this type of play exist in madden 25 anywhere?

I'm pretty sure a normal cover 1 man is qualified as a "triangle" defense. basically, base formation with 2 corners playing man on one safety manning the deep middle.

Yeah, Gruden was trying to illustrate something for the common fans, but in reality Seattle is mostly running a 4-3 Cover 1 Press as their base defense.

Richard Sherman and [whoever hasn't taken any drugs and was allowed to play at the no. 2 spot] will play a ton of press man, with the single high safety (Earl Thomas) the only guy in the secondary consistently passing anyone off. Cam Chancellor, on first and second down, is usually playing old school strong safety technique, getting down into the box in the strong side.

None of that is to say they don't play a bit of Cover 3, they absolutely do amongst various other coverages (they do a little C1 Robber stuff, some rotating cloud cover stuff, etc., just like every defense does) but the base "identity" of that defense is definitely better defined as a Cover 1 because of the outside corners general assignments.

Its pattern reading Cover 3 with the corners pressing at the line with inside technique. Depending on the route combination it essentially turns or becomes Cover 1.

No, it is not possible to run this in M25 since pattern reading is minimum or none existent with every zone except hook zones. You can hot route your CBs to play deep thirds but the deep blue zones are screwy and the CB slow plays routes as he pattern reads routes underneath that shouldn't be his responsibility causing him to get beat deep easily. There's also no way make the corners chuck the receiver in Cover 3.

What about when they are in nickel defense? I am having a hard time finding a formation where the SS lines up inside the box, with the CBs doing man-to-man press coverage on the outside.

Almost every defense in the NFL is pattern reading these days. Maddens current representation is simply archaic... If Madden branded defense was played in the NFL today man a team would get smoked... Like historically smoked.
