Progressive Lighting

How is the Progressive Lighting done in Madden, if at all?

I am really not seeing much and I am definitely not seeing it portrayed correct based upon geography and time of the year. This and dynamic weather would add alot to the game and I am curious when or if this will happen. Thanks

Progressive Lighting

This is one of those topics that gets shouted down, “fiX gAmEpLaY wHo CaReS abt Lighting?!?” but I’m with you dude. I’d be embarrassed if I was in charge of this. No love or attention to detail here at all.

As for your when/if question, they probably won’t do jack about this till they put it on a new engine is my guess. Same goes for unis getting dirty and better snow games.

Re: Progressive Lighting

We definitely need a weather upgrade it should be more Dynamic. We should be able to control the Temp like in the old NCAA games were it can be cold without snowing, We should hear the Thunder when it's raining and see the field get muddier as the game goes on.... And the snow in Madden is awful every field looks the same the snow doesn't build as the game goes on. Buffalo shouldn't look like Green Bay. We should see players fatigue faster and sweat more when playing in Miami and Tampa on Hot day!!! Madden has work to do even on the lighting which I honestly don't think is as bad as the weather IMO.

Re: Progressive Lighting

1. Lighting based on times of the year and geography. So a Patriots game at 1 in September should look different than December.

2. Weather should change throughout the game. It could start cloudy, end sunny. Start with clouds, end with a snow and progressively build

3. Field degradation and uniform should dynamic. I had cooper rush come in for handoffs at the end of my last game and he had grass stains everywhere. HE DIDNT PLAY!

Re: Progressive Lighting

Snow games are laughable with how bad the snow is on the field. It looks like a 2d texture just slapped down. But I wouldn't mind the weather just changing between quarters. And if it snows there should be some accumulation on the field as the game goes on. As it stands now by the end of the game it'll be snowing a ton but the field will be mostly snow free.

They already do that with the lighting (changing by quarter), so why would weather be so tough? But then there probably is some issues stemming from lack of foresight when the design was first made.

As far as lighting based on year, on PC you were able to accommodate that by manually changing kickoff times utilizing a fan made tool. I used to fix the lack of time zones doing that.

Re: Progressive Lighting

Thus has been a pet peavey of mine with Madden the last 7 to 8 years.

Lighting needs to be dynamic not tied to quarters. Also lighting needs to be regional as well. Northeast games get dark real early. West coast games look like east coast 4 o clock games.

Now weather. Weather has not seen an upgrade the last decade. Weather needs to dynamic and be able to combined wind/rain and rain/snow mixed. Gives us unlimited weather combination as long as it makes sense. Ex no snow in Miami. I am like someone else said Madden 02 had four Weather sliders Precip. Wind. Temp. Fog

And finally uniform degradation looks like something from 20 years ago ps1. All players get dirty very similar. Remember when Madden touted the unique ways jerseys could get dirty. I forgot the year but it quoted saying player will fall on shoulder and the shoulder on the shirt would get dirty. Now all these years later we have an inferior weather, lighting and uniform degradation system but on consoles that can do many different things at one time. See Forza Horizon 5. Multiple weather conditions on one huge map. You can see this events in real time as you travel the map.

Well said on all fronts. Longevity of sports games, specially madden, are really struggling. These are ways to make them more appealing
