Player rating change in franchise and player getting cut!!!

All I want to do is have the 49ers Deandrew White returning punts but EA wont let me.. His rating gets dropped to a 57 every time I start a franchise and he gets cut in the preseason no matter what I do.

The guy made the team in real life for F's sake!

Don't sim thru the preseason. Set the starting point of the cfm at the beginning of the preseason so you can cut other players and leave him. And for him not being able to return punts, I'm not sure if this will help, but before you start the cfm, load the latest roster and edit his kick return rating and save the roster, then start the new cfm with your edited roster. Maybe try that and see if it helps. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I tried doing preseason myself, even cut the roster down to 50 uys and kept him on through week 4 of the preseason but when I advanced to the regular season he's gone and not even in free agency. Tried turning off all cpu assistance and still couldn't keep him..


I obviously did something wrong, have to try again after work :/

In pre season make him your #1 or 2 - RB or WR whichever position he is and set the roster to not change the depth chart even if the player is rated lower (I forgot what they titled it, but its in the settings) - like the guys said do your own cuts and make sure that he is at the top of the depth chart - because sometimes when you advance to the regular season and the cpu auto reorders your depth chart he will get buried somewhere
