Blue Power

I'm going to start a BAP in the next couple days. We will see how this goes. I have never done one of these before - I've read a ton of them, but doing one will hopefully be fun.

Playing NHL 11 on PS3.

A little backround

My players name is Bryan Hoxsey. He is a 6-foot, 210 pound defensemen. He grew up in Neptune, a small town in northern Minnesota.

High School: Four-year starter. His senior season, team finished runner-up in 1AA state hockey finals. Finished high school career with 44 goals, 78 assists. Nicknamed "The Fox" for his ability to out-think his opponents.

College: Played four years at Minnesota State. Team made it to the Frozen Four his sophomore season, scored Eagles only goal in a 5-1 loss to Colgate in the semifinals. Junior year scored 7 goals and helped on 25 more, senior campaign tallied 10 goals, and led club with 33 assists.

Minors: Signed by the Saginaw Spirit, team reached the final game of the Memorial Cup, but lost 3-2 to the Wheat Kings.

Pro: Selected in the 2nd round (32 pick overall) in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Wears number 9 in honor of his father whose pro career was cut short due to a career ending knee injury. In first preseason (one assist, 17 penalty minutes) struggled, but made the final cut due to his hustle and willingness to give up his body for the team.

Game 5

Blue Jackets, Nash Top Ducks in Overtime
(From AP Wire Sorces)

COLUMBUS – Blue Jacket forward Rick Nash scored on the power play 1:45 into overtime to give his club a 2-1 win over visiting Anaheim.

"We took advantage of a break they gave us," said Nash. "I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Vermette did a nice job of getting the puck on net and the rebound rolled right on to my stick. It was a good win for us."

Nash's game-winner came off a scramble into front of the Duck net as goalkeeper Jonas Hiller couldn't hold on to the initial shot by Antoine Vermette. Columbus, who finished 2-for-7 with a man advantage, took advantage of a roughing penalty to Anaheim's Corey Perry at the end of regulation.

The home team scored the game's first tally at the 11:23 mark of the opening period when Vermette notched his first goal of the season with a shot from the slot. Defensemen Anton Stralman and Nash assisted on the power play goal.

The Ducks (2-4-1) tied the score five minutes later as Toni Lydman took a pass from Teemu Selanne between the circles and fired the puck past first star and Columbus goalie Steve Mason.

"It was a soft goal that's for sure," said Mason. "It's one I should have had. The defense played well in front of me and thankfully I was able to make the saves down the stretch to keep us in the game."

The Blue Jackets (3-2-0) out-shot Anaheim 30-18 through two periods, but withstood a late flurry, including Mason making back-to-back great saves on Selanne and Perry in the final minute of regulation to give Columbus the chance to get the deciding goal in overtime.

MY GAME: Had six shots on goal in 40:51 of ice time. Ended with a -1 rating, but picked up my first NHL point by earning the second assist on Nash's game-winner.
