How about a FedEx Cup finish to each season to fill in those last two weeks of the year?
Like... say 20 event weeks and then 2 or 3 FedEx Cup style events? and then we get a 2 or 3 week "offseason"

I like the idea of a playoff. After the first 20 weeks the standings could reset and the top 10 or 15 could play 4 weeks of playoff tournaments. The tournaments could still be open to everyone but only the playoff participators would be playing for points.

HBS is still saying that not only will courses be shareable across platforms, but that cross-platform play is still possible. From what I'm gathering, this is possible because the platforms and their associated networks aren't really connected to each other in real time. XBox Live, PSN, and PCs are in effect being buffered by HBS servers, where all of the course and player telemetry data is stored. The individual networks then take that buffered data as needed in a "delayed" state. It might only be a 1/2 to a full second, but it's not synched real time. Since it's golf, it doesn't have to be real time. You're not having to react to your opponents actions in real time.

The limitations they are going to face in real time is voice communications. I've learned that cross-platform voice chat will not be possible because the XB1 and PS4 have their own proprietary VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) libraries and they would not be compatible with anything else. I suspect that because of the inherent delay buffering that is part of this design, there will be delays between what you hear and what you see even with players on the same platform. For example, you'll probably hear your playing companion voice their dissatisfaction over a shot a second or two before you actually see the tracer of their shot depict it.

I really don't have a problem with what little bit of delays there will be associated with this, as I don't see a short delay as hindering the experience. I could change my mind once I get to play it with everything in place. I do know that right now in the beta, I can't see what's happening with the "Live" players I'm trying to play along with in the PC version. All I know is that they're on the same course I'm on live, but I never see their shot tracers, nor does the status screen on the HUD show them on anything other than the hole at which they were on when you joined the game.

Ironically, you can call up their scorecard and it will show their up to date hole and scoring total. It's been reported in the beta board so HBS knows this is going on. In fact it happened with me and one of the devs as we were trying to play a live match, and he saw the same thing on his end as I saw on mine.

Re: The Golf Club Tour

Damn. Great to hear about cross platform play. THAT WOULD BE HUGE. Gives an amazing player pool as well.

I wish this game would just come out!

As for delays and chat, I can manage without if cross platform play is achieved.
