Re: EA Sports PGA TOUR Impressions

Game is totally devoid of feel and plays so so so much like Rory

(yes, I know -- it's based off that clearly)

Did a round at Augusta - finished E -- didn't really have any "fun"
Putting is so devoid of feel -- the whole gameplay experience is.
It's slow and you feel like you're just along for the ride, not controlling it.

Hope you all enjoy it -- this is exactly what I thought it would be

All focus on graphics and very middling gameplay.

I'm starting to think you don't like this game.

It's the impressions thread -- fair to share how I feel now that I'm playing it, isn't it?

I'm going to cancel my pre order if it's not too late. It shows up in Transactions on the playstation site, but it no longer says cancel. Does anyone know if they kept the pre order cut off date for 2 weeks ago before they delayed 2 weeks? If so, and there's now no way to cancel even though early access isn't until tomorrow, that would really suck.

I'm so bummed. 2 years of waiting for this, reading every post or mention that I could find on it, and at least as it stands right now, a complete flop.

I like the look. I like the sound of the ball in the cup coming from the controller. I like the commentary and presentation.

But I can't find one single thing I like about swinging the club or playing the game. Like you said, it's like a point and click adventure game that just walks you through the "story".

100%.. Feels like a point and click adventure game. Im starting to think im just old and in the minority. How hard can it be to sync the onscreen swing to the controller movements in real time. Maybe that's not what the majority want? I have no clue anymore lol.

The lag from when you start the swing with the stick (any shots, even putts) to when something starts happening almost makes you occasionally think you aren't in "swing mode".

Really makes you feel disconnected from what's going on with the golfer and the gameplay overall

Completely agree with every word.

I did some test shots, where I'm hitting from a huge slope in the lie (ball well below or above my feet). Didn't adjust my footing like you would do, or the direction, just hit the ball. Meter feedback dead straight, perfect tempo, no overswing...the ball should go well right if it's below my feet. It went straight.

I'm going to try to cancel the pre order. I hope I can. This just feels so empty and "along for the ride" as you say. I'm so sorry to sound like I'm bitching, I was a huge fanboy (to a fault) as this was being announced and talked about. It just plays so hollow and empty. I'm sure many people will love it and I hope they do, I just can't connect with the actual shot and the feel of golf with this game at all.

And I just holed another long one, this time 30 yards from the fairway, straight into the cup. Swoosh.

Ya, i didn't even mention the lag at the start of the swing. How is this acceptable.. I duno, i only played 20 minutes but felt i seen enough to make a judgment. I mean the SWING is the gameplay lol.. Still have ten hours of trial left to hope it grows on me. If anyone finds anyway to adjust gameplay settings or even a perspective on how to enjoy the game more please let me know.

Re: EA Sports PGA TOUR Impressions

Just got this response back from someone on another forum, when I asked about the online requirement for the game:

"Yes, you need to be logged in to an EA account to get anything other than "Quick Play". Took me a while to sort that part out as my EA account was linked to an old e-mail address, so I eventually unlinked that old one from my Xbox account and re-did it. After that, everything appeared - Career mode, setting up your golfer, etc."
