Re: Detroit Lions Franchise (M22) (PS5)

OFFENSE
Detroit’s offense has the potential to be the worst in the NFL. Even though the Lions’ offensive line is good, the receiving corps might not even have a WR2-caliber player. Alongside their future quarterback, they must make receiving weapons a priority in the next draft.

DEFFENSE
The Lions’ defense appears to be on the way toward positive results. They extended Romeo Okwara and have a lot of young upside on the roster. Jeff Okudah, Amani Oruwariye, and Melifonwu all have potential at cornerback.

2021 RECORD PREDICTION
With one of the most difficult schedules in the NFL and a roster on a full rebuild, there’s no reason for Lions fans to expect anything more than five wins in 2021 for their season preview. The most likely outcome is somewhere around 3-14 and a chance to secure their quarterback of the future in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Detroit Lions Announce 2021 53-Man Roster

The Detroit Lions have reached 53 men on the active roster, after cutting 27 players since the preseason finale.

Allen Park, Mich.— After meeting with general manager Brad Holmes over the weekend, head coach Dan Campbell has his initial group of NFL players to work with heading into the 2021 season.

“I thought it was outstanding, really because we really did the deep dive for the most part on Saturday," Campbell told reporter Monday."

Campbell commented further, "Then yesterday (Sunday) was about, ‘Let’s look at these guys on other teams, potential releases on other teams, guys that may be a fit, what do we think, rank them to who’s here.’ All of those things, but that day, Saturday, it was really good because I felt like it was an honest, open discussion about how we both felt about this roster. I would say we probably agreed on 98% of it. But that little two percent that we didn’t was honest and open and to the point and it was easy."

The Lions will also establish their practice squad by Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Meet the 2021 Detroit Lions roster.

Quarterback (3) - Jared Goff, Tim Boyle, David Blough

Running Backs (4) - D'Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams, Jermar Jefferson, Jason Cabinda (FB)

Re: Detroit Lions Franchise (M22) (PS5)

Following the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster being revealed, the practice squad was officially announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Detroit head coach Dan Campbell recently explained what he is looking for from the players that will be featured on his first practice squad in Detroit.

“For example, I know we can pull this guy -- you get an injury, I know we can pull this guy up, and he might not be physically as talented as the guy, the starter that’s in front that has an injury. But, we know he’s a plug-in player right now," Campbell explained. "We know he can go in there, and he’s functional at the position and he can help us on special teams. You need those guys there. That’s one."

G Tommy Kraemer
Kraemer was one of the Lions' more intriguing undrafted rookie free agent signings this year. At Notre Dame, he was a four-year starter at both right tackle and right guard. Though he did not make the initial 53-man roster, the Lions stashed him on their practice squad immediately.

G Logan Stenberg
The Lions have gotten good results over the years in scouting players at the Senior Bowl, and this is another one of those players. Drafting guards on consecutive picks is a sign that the Lions want to beef up the interior of the offensive line. Stenberg brings plenty of beef. Stenberg started three seasons at left guard for the Kentucky Wildcats and help lead them to the fourth-highest rushing offense in college football last season. He's not flashy, but he's a student of the game with a lot of experience under his belt.

WR Trinity Benson
Benson played college football for the East Central Tigers. He rushed for 324 yards and five touchdowns with 507 yards and four touchdowns on 45 receptions as a senior and was named first team All-Great American Conference. Benson signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in April 2019. He was cut by the team at the end of training camp. The Broncos traded Benson and a sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Detroit Lions in exchange for fifth- and seventh-round selections in the 2022 NFL Draft.

TE Charlie Taumoepeau
The Detroit Lions continue to add depth to their tight ends, signing Taumoepeau after his tryout during rookie minicamp. In 2020, the 23-year-old tight end spent time with three different organizations, as he was part of the Colts, Cowboys and 49ers. At 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Taumoepeau can create some mismatches for the Lions' offense.

DE Eric Banks
The Detroit Lions have a new defensive lineman on their roster. The Lions have been awarded defensive tackle Eric Banks from waivers. Banks was undrafted in 2020 out of the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA), but joined the Los Angeles Rams for the offseason. Though he did not make their final 53-man roster, he was added to their practice squad in October and spent the rest of the season there. In 2021, he again spent the offseason with the Rams but was cut in the final rounds.

DT Miles Brown
The Detroit Lions have added more bulk to the defensive line. The Lions signed free agent defensive tackle Miles Brown to the roster. Brown, 23, is entering his third NFL season. He spent last season on the practice squad with both the Cardinals and Titans. Brown played just over 100 snaps for Arizona as an undrafted rookie out of Wofford in 2019.

DT Tyler Clark
The Lions signed former Georgia Bulldogs DT Tyler Clark to the practice squad. Clark was better known as a run defender in college but had a few standout performances. One of those came in the 2017-18 Rose Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners, where he faced now Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield. He recorded a sack, two tackles for loss and five total tackles in that game.

LB Curtis Bolton
The Lions revealed that they had added former Green Bay Packers linebacker Curtis Bolton to the team. While Bolton is not a huge name at this point in time, the Lions are betting the 25 year-old could be a player that they could get into their defense if he develops well.

LB Jessie Lemonier
One of the more intriguing additions to the Lions practice squad is Lemonier, an outside linebacker and pass rusher who was with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020. Out of Liberty as an undrafted player in 2020, he was on the team’s practice squad and then the roster late in the year. Lemonier is the type of player who has some obvious skills, and it’s likely he was recommended to the staff by his former head coach Anthony Lynn. In college, Lemonier had some eye-popping stats including 135 tackles and a solid 20.5 sacks to go with 3 forced fumbles. At 6-3 and 240 pounds, Lemonier is someone the Lions staff likely felt was too good to pass up in terms of his potential fit in the new defense.

LB Anthony Pittman
The Detroit native and former Wayne State standout, led the defense (43) and special teams (14) in snaps in the team’s 27-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The linebacker has spent the better portion of the past two seasons on Detroit’s practice squad, appearing in one game back in 2019.

CB Mark Gilbert
Cornerback Mark Gilbert will sign with the Lions, and join their practice squad. Gilbert went undrafted out of Duke, and joined the Steelers this past summer. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back has spent the early portion of his career on the practice squad. During his sophomore season in 2017, Gilbert recorded 35 tackles, with three being for loss, to go along with six interceptions and 15 passes defensed.

FS JuJu Hughes
Hughes is a versatile safety who can play deep or near the line of scrimmage. Originally drafted by the LA Rams in the 2020 Draft, he spent most of his time on the Ram’s practice squad. Detroit claimed Hughes off of waivers from the Rams.

The question should be, are you? You don't do this for our enjoyment only your own.

Yeah, go for it if you're still interested! The Lions are more interesting to me than they've been in a while, if you can figure out the QB position and get him another weapon or two.
