Rebuilding the Big Blue: A New York Giants Franchise.

GIANTS CLEANING HOUSE

Only one year after the hiring of Pat Shurmur the New York Giants Brass has decided to clean house after a very disappointing 2018-2019 football season. The offense finished 31st in the league and the defense finished 17th. For a team with a lot of preseason hype and playoff expectations this was a brutal season. Tune in for daily updates on the franchise and see how the Ownership will right the ship.

GIANTS HIRE LINCOLN RILEY[

In a move that rocks the football world, the Giants have hired the now former Oklahoma Sooner coach to a 6 year 45 million dollar deal fully guaranteed. He is now tasked with getting this team to fulfill its potential. We now take you live to his Introductory Press Conference.

Lincoln Riley Press Conference

How do you think you will adjust to the NFL coming straight from college?

Well Football is just X's and O's. It's no different. I don't think it will be an adjustment. You have to prepare more, but that wont be a problem for me. I'm here to win football games and that's what I plan to do.

Will you be calling the plays this season? Also what offense will you be implementing?

I will be taking over as the primary offensive play caller. I've always said if you want something done right do it yourself. I will be leaving my defensive play calling to the newly hired Les Miles. Offensively we will be running a multitude of things. We will take what the defense gives us whether that be through the air or on the ground. Defensively Les and I have discussed running a base 3-4 but incorporating that into using multiple defensive fronts. Our goal is to catch the opposing team off guard in every situation. This way we can control the game and play New York Giants Football for 60 minutes.

What are your hopes to accomplish this offseason?

Well we want to bring in guys who will buy into what we want to due here. No one is safe. I will be personally evaluating every player on this roster. I am a no nonsense guy. First priority will be to rebuild the offensive line here. Other than that we need to find consistency across the board. We need to draft well and find guys who can plug in and play right away. We also need to find the future of this franchise. A Qb is also a top priority. Coming from college I do like this class of Qbs in this draft. Now that's slight to Eli. Right now he's our starter. There is no telling what we will do with the 7th pick.

What are your expectations for the coming season?

This season we want to compete. We want to shock the league. We aren't rolling over for anyone. We are going to come out and play New York Giants football. I do not see why we cant make the playoffs this season. Thank you, that's all the time I have for today.

GIANTS OFF SEASON A MASSIVE SUCCESS

Quarterback Drew Lock headlines impressive draft haul

After a very quiet free agency the Giants appear to have hit a home run in the draft. In the first round they drafted what they believe to be the future of the franchise in Drew Lock out of Missouri. He has a cannon of an arm and should see early success with the weapons around him if the offensive line holds up. With their 2nd round selections they nabbed corner back Kendall Sheffield and offensive tackle David Edwards. Both should see immediate playing time. In the Third round The Giants selected Oklahoma product Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. He should slide right into that #2 WR role in this offense. Round 5 came and saw the giants select Sutton Smith, the edge rusher out of Northern Illinois. In rounds 6 & 7 the giants selected McKenzie Milton (QB UCF) and Dieonte Thompson (FS Alabama) respectively. Undrafted Free Agent Signings include Khalil Tate (QB Arizona), Kelly Bryant (QB Clemson), Zach Jowers (LG Houston), and Long Hall (RT N.C. State).

The Lincoln Riley Era seems to be off to a good start. The burning question in everyone's mind is... Who will be the week 1 Quarterback?

NEW YORK GIANTS DEPTH CHART RELEASED

After an impressive preseason seeing the Giants go 4-0, Coach Riley has named Drew Lock the starting QB over veteran Eli Manning. Coach said that Drew showed tremendous Poise and ability to move around the pocket and extend plays with his feet. Eli will be there to help mentor drew along. Several rookies appear in the starting lineup. A young and hungry team is emerging in New York. Hopefully they'll work through the growing pains rather quickly. The First Test is @ home vs 2nd year signal caller Josh Rosen and the cardinals. After an impressive rookie season, Rosen will look to have success early vs a young Giants Secondary. The key to this game will be to establish the run early and not let Rosen be comfortable in the pocket.

Re: Rebuilding the Big Blue: A New York Giants Franchise.

GIANTS LOOK "LOCKED" IN DURING WEEK ONE

On the road in Arizona the Giants looked like a completely dominant team. Rosen could never get comfortable and David Johnson couldn't muster any yardage on the ground. The Cardinals would receive the ball to start the game and have a quick 3 and out. The first snap in the game led to a Kareem Martin Sack. After a great Tavon Austin return on the punt the Giants would go to work. Saquon Barkley would have 22 yards on 3 carries and Drew Lock would go 2/3 for 11 yards. His first completion going for 8 yards to Evan Engram. After a face mask penalty Barkley would cap off the drive with a 11 yard TD run.

Late in the 2nd Quarter Barkley again would cap off a drive with a TD run. Barkley would end up having 40 yards on that drive.

Up 14-0 with the defense dominating, the Giants would get the ball back yet again. This time Drew Lock tried to beat Trae Waynes deep on a ball intended for Marquise Brown but was picked off. A rookie mistake made by Lock. It was interesting to see how he would bounce back.

After yet another punt from the Cardinals, The Giants would get the ball back with 46 seconds left in the game, this time being backed up on their own 5. After a quick screen pass to Barkley that went for 20 yards, the Giants still needed 75 yards for a TD with 33 seconds left.

The next play Lock launched a rocket down the right sideline to Hollywood Brown in route to a 75 yard TD catch and run. This looks like a great budding connection for years to come.

The Giants would go into the half up 21-0 with the whole team firing on all cylinders.

The second half was a defensive slug fest with only 3 points being scored in the whole second half coming from a 41 yard FG from Adam Vinateri. Lock looked exceptional the whole game outside of interception finishing with an outstanding 78% completion percentage and 221 yards. With 8 seconds remaining down 24-0 the Cardinals had a chance to put up points. 4th and goal on the 6 yard line. Rosen would drop back to pass and would eventually be sacked by Kareem Martin, his 2nd of the day.

The offense looked great for the most part outside of the offensive line which allowed 2 sacks and 6 pressures. The New offense that Lincoln Riley has established can be very effective this year.

The defense was dominant only allowing 140 yards of total offense. Only 3 of which came from rushing. They also racked up 4 sacks. A complete game in Lincoln Riley's Debut.

Next up is a Home game vs the Dallas Cowboys. If the Giants bring the same intensity and can contain Zeke and force Dak to throw the ball, look for a big Win for the Giants.
