2016 Season:
Record: (7-9, 3-3) 4th place, AFC East
MVP: Head Coach Jeremy Stott, led team to 5-3 record in second half
Recap: It was a tumultuous 2016 season for the Bills. They fired Rex Ryan after a (2-6) start that included a 70-17 loss at home to New England. They finished red-hot, winning their final four games and rediscovering their running game over the final month of the season.

Recap: The Bills returned to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. They started the season (8-2) before stumbling down the stretch, but won in New England on the season's final day to clinch AFC East Title. Won their first playoff game in 22 years, defeating Houston 39-23 at Wegmans Field.

2016 SEASON - QUARTER 1

The opening quarter of the 2016 season for the Buffalo Bills was a forgettable one. They lost three of their first four, giving up copious amounts of points in those three losses. The last place Bills gave up a league high 145 points, yeilding over 40 three times. Injuries were a major factor, as nine players missed significant time. Stephon Gilmore, LeSean McCoy, and Tyrod Taylor all missed, or will miss multiple games.

The Bills dropped their opener in Baltimore 44-31, losing both LeSean McCoy and Stephan Gilmore in the first quarter. Tyrod Taylor threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.

Week Two saw the Bills bounce back as they trounced their rival, the New York Jets, 32-11 at New Era Field. Tyrod Taylor would throw three long touchdown passes, two to Sammy Watkins and one to Robert Woods. But he also tossed three interceptions. The Bills would outgain the Jets 437-314, mainly yielding garbage time yardage to the Jets.

Week Three turned into a disaster, as the Bills were blown out at home by the Arizona Cardinals. Cardinals backup quarterback Drew Stanton stepped in for the injured Carson Palmer and didn't miss a step, throwing for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Tyrod Taylor went down with a dislocated hip, and will be lost for at least a month. Before he left, he fumbled twice and threw two interceptions as the Bills turned the ball over seven times in the rout. They would score three late touchdowns to make the final respectable.

Week Four in New England was a train wreck from the start as the Bills fell 45-3. The Pats toyed with the Bills, running roughshod over their defense to the tune of 249 yards. LeGarrette Blount ran for 180 yards on just 16 carries before tearing his MCL on the rain slicked turf. Rob Gronkowski went off on the depleted Bills secondary that was missing Gilmore and safety Corey Graham. He caught eight passes for 114 yards and scored a touchdown.

Is Rex Ryan on the hot seat? You better believe it. Also, owner Terry Pegula has decided that New Era Field will be a thing of the past as he has begun construction on a new home for the Bills in downtown Buffalo.

2016 SEASON - QUARTER 2

The second quarter of the 2016 Buffalo Bills season was a tire fire. Rex Ryan did not last, getting fired after a week 8 loss at home to the New England Patriots, 70-17. The Bills once again went (1-3) and sit at (2-6) at the halfway point of the season with three of the next four on the road.

Week Five was the Bills first trip to Los Angeles since 1994, and it was not a memorable one as the Los Angeles Rams ran all over the Bills, trouncing the league's worst run defense to the tune of 181 yards on the ground. Rookie Jared Goff torched the Bills defense for 311 yards as the Rams dominated the Bills 48-34

The Bills would return home in Week Six to take on the San Francisco 49ers and it was just the tonic that this club needed. The Bills and EJ Manuel threw for 422 yards and they piled up 532 yards of offense in a 45-20 win, just their second on the year.

It looked like momentum might carry over into Week Seven, as the Bills jumped out to a 14-0 lead in Miami on two long Sammy Watkins touchdown receptions. But the Dolphins would rally late, tying in in the closing seconds of regulation, then winning it in overtime as they kicked a field goal, then held the Bills on downs to drop them to (2-5).

Week Eight was the last straw for Rex Ryan. His Bills hung with powerful New England, trailing 30-17 at the half, until they imploded. The Patriots dropped 40 on the Bills after halftime, including two pick-six scores in the fourth to seal a 70-17 victory and end the Rex Ryan era in Buffalo.

2016 SEASON - QUARTER 3

The Bills brought in a new interim coach, Jeremy Stott, yet their sub-par season continued as they went (1-3) in the third quarter of the 2016 season, but the team does appear to be getting better. They had the Seahawks down big before falling apart in the second half. They won a road game at AFC North leading Cincinnati, then had the turnover bug killed them at home against Jacksonville and at Oakland. The Bills sit last in the AFC East and tied for last in the AFC and NFL with a (3-9) record through 13 weeks.

The Bills opened the second half of the 2016 season losing a heartbreaker 39-28 in Seattle. The Bills built a 21-6 lead at the half and went up 28-6 early in the third quarter, before imploding and turning the ball over six times in the second half. Tyrod Taylor threw four touchdown passes, but threw five interceptions and lost a fumble.

In Week Eleven, the Bills traveled to Cincinnati and stunned the Bengals 23-21 at Paul Brown Stadium. The Bills ran for 225 yards, led by rookie Jonathan Williams, who ran for 134 on 23 carries. The Bills held the ball for over 40 minutes as they improved to (3-7).

Thanksgiving weekend saw the Bills welcome Jacksonville to New Era Field. The Bills turned the ball over three times in the second quarter, all inside their own 25 yard line, leading to 17 Jacksonville points as they fell 29-16. The Bills played a decent defensive game against the explosive Jaguars, holding them to just 353 yards of offense.

Week Thirteen saw the Bills drop a frustrating game in Oakland, 34-21. They turned the ball over six times, two of which were returned for scores in the road loss. It was the third time that the Bills have turned the ball over at least six times in a game in 2016. Tyrod Taylor was pulled after throwing three interceptions, and fumbling three times. EJ Manual came in and rallied the Bills to a couple of garbage time touchdowns to make the final appear closer than the game actually was. The (3-9) Bills will now close the 2016 season playing three of their final four at New Era Field. They will be the final three games at the stadium that opened in 1973.
