Re: Fly JETS FLY!! - Coach Mode - Madden 25

BREAKING NEWS!

the week of our preparation for facing the San Diego Chargers, several noteworthy players wanted to rework their contracts.

CB Kyle Wilson -- one of the players who have been a key contributor in the JETS' League Leading Turnover Differential wanted to rework his contract

Sadly.. the terms he wanted crushed my heart.

there is absolutely no way i can justify paying him that kind of money! not with CB1 Antonio Cromartie locked up and up-and-comer CB Dee Miliner who is already starting 2nd on my depth chart..

it pains me to know that I won't be able to keep Kyle Wilson at season's end but i know whichever team signs him will have a great ball hawk in their secondary

WR Jeremy Kerley has been an absolute find! He is currently 3rd on my WR depth chart and is my Slot receiver but he is a BALLER! His style reminds me a lot of Wayne Chrebet or Wes Welker. They're undersized but elusive and can catch the ball in the middle. He is quite frankly, one of my favorite players as well as one of the favorite targets of Geno Smith. Well-deserved contract and eventually may even be my WR1 or WR2

David Harris -- you broke my heart you broke my heart. The General of my Defense asked for a $14 mil contract. I offered $16 and he still turned it down! Lord only knows what his agent wants but he will be sorely missed. He was a constant for my defense in the middle and even if not the most physically gifted MLB.. he was in the middle of pretty much every play as sure a tackler as there is in the game.

This one hurt.. this one most definitely hurt.

Re: Fly JETS FLY!! - Coach Mode - Madden 25

Week 14 - Chargers vs JETS

The final score will show that the JETS won by 3 points in overtime. What it will not show or tell is exactly how that happened.. a surrealistic sequence of events that has left me as a coach completely emotionally drained.

I have gone from the peaks of euphoria to the depths of despair back to euphoric heights in back to back to back plays.

There are moments.. not just in football, or sports, but in life that I like to call "Hollywood moments" or "movie moments". Moments or events that are so far-fetched, so unbelievable that it can only happen in movies. That is exactly how this game ended.

Let me describe in detail.. the events that wrapped up one of the craziest games i have ever been a part of.. let me set the scenario. It was Overtime.. the Chargers was stopped midfield and was forced to punt. My team had the ball around the 40 yd line.. when I call a slant play to my rookie WR G. Castro. YES. The same "all-world speed" WR that was part of last year's incredible Draft Storyline. The same WR that couldn't catch they said. This same WR I have spent all season long developing hands and catching and route running trying to improve his glaring weakness.
  • WR Castro caught the ball and sprinted away from everyone for 48 yds down the field setting us up for perfect FG range to win the game (YES!!! if I could I would've ran the length of the field with him)
  • I call a run play.. RB Chris Ivory fumbles the ball which the Chargers recover (NO!!! I was cussing up a storm right now)
  • Chargers call a run play.. FUMBLE! Recovered by the JETS! (OH MY GOD!! Did this really happen? YES!)

at this point I call a FG and end the game.. one of the craziest games and honestly speaking.. one of the most frustrating games I have coached in. Why? Because the Chargers did everything right --- except win. It got to the point that I was confounded on how San Diego seemingly called the perfect play for whatever I called on defense. I'd call a blitz, they'd call a HB Slip Screen. I'd call a zone and they'd go right down the middle for another big gain. Plus Antonio Gates is always a tough matchup.

all in all I feel fortunate to come away with this W.. it was most definitely earned by my JETS team!

Re: Fly JETS FLY!! - Coach Mode - Madden 25

Week 15 - JETS vs Bills

If one were to tell you that the final score was 33-10 with one team gaining 161 rushing yds, 338 passing yds and over 600 total offensive yds. One would assume that the team that won decisively is the one that performed well that day.

That would be logical. That would be the right assumption.. but when it comes to my team. It seems logic goes out the window. Specially not the way this game began..

When I faced the Bills earlier this season, their primary RB CJ Spiller was out. This game.. he returned and he returned with a vengeance. His first rush went for 45 yds down the field. EJ Manuel is as mobile a QB as I have ever had to contain and by the time 3 minutes had gone by.. CJ Spiller had 60yds rushing and the Bills had an opening TD drive.

It wasn't much more good after that. My team struggled moving the ball as always it seems and the Bills to their credit displayed an offense that was to put it mildly -- unstoppable.

So I did what I do as a coach. Went in and dug into my principles. RUN THE BALL. Shorten the game. Try to slow down what felt like a crushing wave in Buffalo.

It worked.. to a degree. It was 10-0 after 1 qtr of play. 10-3 entering the 2 minute warning where the Bills had the ball and was driving down for what seemed yet another Touchdown. This is where the game changed entirely..

This past draft.. LB's Adonys Adams and Jalen Shaw were the most celebrated of all Storyline prospects. I chose ROLB Adonys Adams 2nd overall but he got injured early in the season and missed a lot of gametime and reps. To say he is a bust right now is too early to say but he has had ZERO SACKS throughout the season. But in this game.. he made his presence felt and this is what happened.

He rushed, as usual from his outside LB spot.. Bills QB EJ Manuel tried to juke him, missed and Adonys unloaded!! It wasn't a sack -- it was better. A FORCED FUMBLE by my rookie LB!! MLB David Harris picked it up and took it to the house for a TD tying the game up 10-10 with a minute and a half remaining before halftime!

on the very next possession.. Bills handed it off to Peyton Hillis. Yes, the Power Back Hillis himself swung to the left where Adonys Adams unloaded on him again FORCING YET ANOTHER FUMBLE! This time Antonio Cromartie picked it up and again took it to the house giving us a 17-10 lead right before halftime.

ADONYS ADAMS -- WELCOME TO THE NFL!!

After that.. the Bills simply couldn't recover. CJ Spiller got injured during the 2nd qtr and the only downside to this game was that my own starting HB Clayton "Power" Mills broke his jaw (ouch!) and was taken out of the game as well.

UP NEXT: I am actually looking forward to this game. For the first time this season -- Heralded Storyline LB's and Best Friends Adonys Adams and Jalen Shaw will be playing against each other. Curious how each performs out there. I'm still expecting big things from Adonys.. I simply have to develop him as his pass-rushing right now is non-existent having gotten no sacks whatsoever.

Re: Fly JETS FLY!! - Coach Mode - Madden 25

Week 16 - JETS vs Dolphins

My defense is for real. We may not be the flashiest or most dominating defense in the league by far.. but my players are HUNGRY! We already lead the league in turnover differential and this is huge for my JETS because the fact of the matter is this: I am the type of coach utilizing a power running - play action scheme and we simply do not turn the ball over.

At this current point in the season we are on a NFL record setting pace of only 9 total giveaways whereas the record is at 10 held by the 2010 New England Patriots and the 2011 San Francisco 49ers.

My style is a perfect fit for this turnover-hungry defense I have and although QB Geno Smith has played remarkably well in this his sophomore year.. the truth is I do not rely on him.

Run the ball. Protect the football. Play Solid Defense.

You will win in the NFL no matter what era you play in!

My only wish is that my 2nd overall pick ROLB Adonys Adams somehow realizes his potential and plays up to it but sadly this season has been, as painful for me to admit, a waste .. 27 Tackles this season. ZERO SACKS.

But his presence during games is certainly felt.. he almost always hurries the QB and rushes tirelessly.. he may not get there but his presence is certainly felt. Maybe I need to work on his Pursuit during practices more I do not know.. but I know he can be the terror I dreamt he would be when I drafted him.

You know who they are! The Broncos are arguably the 2nd best team behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC and I for one am excited to see how my JETS face such a talented playoff-ready team. The Playoffs are just over the horizon.. it is time to see if my JETS are ready!

AROUND THE NFL:
Who would've thought? Even without Hall-of-Famer MLB Ray Lewis that the Ravens are on the verge of bidding for a PERFECT SEASON?! and oh.. after a horribly painful start.. don't sleep on those JETS from NYC!!! YES BABY!!! THE JETS ARE PLAYOFF BOUND!!!

it has been a long, hard and at times painful season.. but what makes this sweet is the fact that we overcame so much adversity. From all the injuries we have suffered to the games where we were beaten up soundly. To my abandoning and ditching the Read Option playbook where I literally felt as I was giving up on my team and my season with that act.. but yet, that is what started this turnaround.

I honestly cannot be prouder of my team.. Adversity builds Character and this team takes right after my own heart! FLY JETS FLY!!!!

back in the past draft, I drafted a rookie RB in the 2nd round that I scouted as a pure bruiser. a Power Back in the truest sense of the word.. even if he only had 77 SPD.

I knew what this meant.. he won't breakaway from defenders. he will more often than not get caught.. but what I did not realize.. is that he has heart.

watch this. watch my rookie RB Clayton Mills drag 4-5 Buffalo Defenders on the way to the endzone!

that, my friends, is called HEART! It is DESIRE! That is something that no known metric or measurement can properly quantify.. because that is simply HEART! As usual.. Clayton Mills' run sparked a fire in my team that the Bills could not withstand.

And that wasn't his only highlight oh no siree! Did I mention that Mills is NASTY?! He's just plain NASTY! People better get out of his way he's just slapping people around!! ...literally

Players like Clayton Mills will always have a place in the NFL.. and more importantly, can and will always play for me.

Re: Fly JETS FLY!! - Coach Mode - Madden 25

Week 17 - Broncos vs JETS

This was not a regular season game. Even though this is technically the last game of the regular season.. what played out on the field was all about one thing: PLAYOFFS!

As a coach.. I admit that I had my reservations going into this game considering the type of season we've had. All my fears went away on the very first play as my Defense SACKED Peyton Manning. Actions speak louder than words and they were telling me they are not afraid of the Broncos and it was GAME ON!

..and what a game it was. I wish I could do a play-by-play because this was as proficient and high-level as NFL Offenses can operate! We would score. Denver would respond. We would then score again. That went on and on until the 4th qtr where Denver Finally established a foothold but until then..?

A TOTAL OF TEN. Yes, TEN LEAD CHANGES!!

Even though we lost. I felt this game answered any question or lingering doubts I may have about whether or not my team belonged in the playoffs and more importantly, if we can actually play with the teams we will be facing. A resounding ABSOLUTELY! was the answer given to me emphatically by the way my team played

UP NEXT: Great. Just. Great.. "The Golden Boy" and the Patriots. I wish I'd face any other team but them.. but to be honest, it is not because I am afraid of Tom Brady and co. Rather, I know how difficult it is to win 3 games in the same season against the same squad. We all pretty much know each other by now and judging by our last epic confrontation the last time these two teams met in Gillette Stadium, this promises to be as bloody, physical, tough and emotionally and mentally draining as that considering this is now THE PLAYOFFS!

Well.. all we ask for is a shot. We're in the dance! Let's see how far and how long these JETS can fly

2014 NFL WildCard: Patriots vs JETS

They say that the playoffs is played at a much different speed than the regular season. This was never more evident than when my JETS faced Tom Brady and the Patriots during this wildcard weekend..

The Patriots just blitzed us and we were caught unprepared. I don't know if this falls on me as a coach -- perhaps I did not prepare my team well enough. It just seemed whatever I called, Tom Brady had the perfect counter for it. He always found the right man. The right throw. The right decision. And always for huge chunks of yards down the field..

the Patriots simply looked that much quicker than us..

a bittersweet finish to this season, one in which we struggled at the start, overcoming the losses of key players to make a playoff push only to get absolutely destroyed like this

well, we are a young squad.. i can only hope and pray they take this beating to heart and come back hungrier and more focused next year. i have high hopes for my jets team.. that is for certain.
