BREAKING NEWS: Jets fire Rex Ryan

After a 2012 showing that posted a terrible 3-13 outing, and had the Jets viewed as one of the most "dysfunctional" organizations in the NFL, the New york jets have decided to part ways with defensive guru Rex Ryan. Under Ryan the Jets went to the AFC championship in back to back years, but in the final two years of his four year coaching stint, regressed going 8-8 and 3-13. It is unclear what the Jets future plans are but it is well known that the face many problems heading into the offseason.

The salary cap: The Jets are known to be in "cap hell" as far as the salary cap is concerned. Signing aging stars to bloated contracts. It is well known around NFL circles that the Jets will have to release such players as former Ryan standout Bart Scott, and outside linebacker Calvin pace to just get under the cap. It is also well known that they are looking at moving quarterback Tim Tebow, as he seemed to cause more distractions in 2012, to the production that he added on the field. It is unknown what the Jets plan to do with impending free agents Laron Landry, Dustin Keller, and Brandon Moore, as they are not in a financial situation to be able to sign them, currently.

The Quarterback: This year seemed to be as much of a indication that you are going to get that Mark sanchez is not the answer at quarterback. With the release of Tebow oncoming, the only quarterback left on the roster besides sanchez will be unkown Greg Mccelroy. Pooh Carlson has been the big buzz around the NFL draft but it is unknown if the Jets would be willing to draft a quarterback high after the failed Sanchez experiment.

The Cranston approach:
Rumor around NFL cricles seems to be that the Jets are interested in Boston College head coach Ben Cranston. Cranston is known for his ability to develop quarterbacks as he personally tutored under former stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, and he worked in developing Andrew Luck. Cranston sinch then took over the BC Eagles two years ago and led them to consecutive top ten finishes. It is belived that it would take a record breaking contract to lure him into such a disastor of a situation

Jets hire head coach Ben Cranston

The new york jets have shocked the NFL world by hiring former BC head coach Ben Cranston to a four year contract. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but it is belived to be a record setting deal. During his presser Cranston made it clear that he was looking at returning the Jets to a stable, consistent winning franchise, and that he was here to hoist the Lombardi, not grab headlines. When asked about the quarterback situation Cranston was noncomital, saying that he would "evaluate the current players" and "do what is best for the new york jets organization". Cranston was given a dual deal as far as coach and power over personel goes, as he was given part GM duties. Cranston has brought along with him Steve Spagnuolo to be his defensive coordinator, and former Cleveland Head coach, and his good friend Pat Shurmur to coordinate the offense. If nothing else the New York Jets will be a interesting team to watch, with their blockbuster staff heading into the 2013 season.

Re: The Guarantee: The Jets return to glory

This week in Jets football

There are a few interesting tidbits to not on the eve of free agency as the Jets have come to a three year agreement with left guard Matt slauson. During a year with makeshift moves on the right side of the line, Slauson along with Ferguson and Mangold anchored the left side, which also had the most rushing attempts towards it during the season, a good re signing for the Jets. The Jets have also agreed to terms with right tackle Austin howard on a two year deal. Howard is young and a bit raw but showed some promise at points throughout the season.

Jets ink three

The Jets have announced that they've come to terms with three players, including journeyman quarterback David Garrard who is expected to compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting posistion in training camp. Garrard who was inked to a one year deal, is the type of west coast passer that head coach Ben Cranston covets. The Jets have also signed free agent strong safety Bob Sanders to a one year deal, who will help steve spagnuolo convert the defense to a 4-3, and tight end Delanie walker.

It would appear as if Bart Scott, Eric Smith and Tim Tebow have all played their last downs as New York Jets. The team announced earlier that they have parted ways with the former starters, who are getting a chance to test the free agent waters.

League key signings
- Greg Jennings- Seahawks
- Kurt Warner- Browns
- Osi Umenyiora- Bengals
- Jason Campbell- Bills
- Jeremy Shockey- Colts

Jets draft preview

Heading into the 2013 NFL draft the New york jets, under new head coach Ben Cranston have a plethora of needs to fill. Picking at #1 overall the Jets have the luxury of selecting the best player on the board, the debate among media analysists, and fans, would seem to be "who is that player?". The Jets have hosted multiple workouts with Halfback Andrew Niles who many scouts believe to be a Jerome Bettis sized back with Leasean Mccoy speed, the only knock on Niles coming out is his injury history as he has had multiple ankle problems his senior year. We would be hard pressed not to spark the quarterback debate either, as the organization is believed to be very high on Pooh Carlson, who with his mechanics and solid mobility reminds them a lot of a Ben Roethlisberger type passer. The question is, when the chips are down who does Cranston pick? The franchise quarterback, or the "safe" halfback? On the defensive end, it would apear that the team is enamored with middle linebacker Jazz Robinson who is projected to go in the third round, its just unclear at this moment if they would spend a pick that high on a posistion already filed by David Harris. Keep your eyes out for a possible Revis trade as well. Sources would indicate that the star corner is not happy with the new managements approach to a longterm extension that he's looking for coming off of a complete ACL tear. Either way, expect fireworks to fly in New York.
