The Career of Coach West (NCAA 11)

New Head Coach Named

In a surprise announcement, the San Jose State Spartans have named Cody West their new head football coach. Cody West is the brother of the legendary college basketball coach Marvin West who made the San Jose State basketball team a national powerhouse before moving on to Northwestern. Cody will try to follow in those footsteps on the gridiron. We were able to sit down for an interview with the new coach.

Spartan Daily: "Coach West, first of all, pleasure to meet you."

Coach West: "Thanks. The pleasure is all mine. The Spartan Daily will play an instrumental role in getting our students fired up about football this season."

Spartan Daily: "Coach, we have to ask you about your qualifications. Rumors are that you only got this job because of your brother. Can you speak to those rumors?"

Coach West: "Look, I'm not worried about campus rumors. You can judge my coaching by the product that we put on the football field. I'm more worried about getting these players ready for the season.

Spartan Daily: "Sorry Coach but we had to ask. Moving on, what can we expect from the team this year?"

Coach West: "I don't plan on making too many changes. We are going to run a multiple offense and a 4-3 base defensive scheme."

Spartan Daily: "What are your goals for the season?"

Coach West: "I have two related goals. We want to have a winning record and a bowl bid. It will not be easy to accomplish but I think with a little hard work and some luck we might be able to pull it off.

Coach West Releases Depth Chart

Spartan Daily: "No real surprises on the depth chart this season. How close was the battle for the starting quarterback position?"

Coach West: "It was a good competition. La Secla and Faulkner were really pushing each other but I think La Secla gives us the best chance to win at this point.

Spartan Daily: "What do you identify as your teams strengths and weaknesses?"

Coach West: "Well, our success on offense this season is going to depend on our offensive line. We have some pretty good guys up front so if they can dominate the line of scrimmage then we have a chance to win the game. We are also pretty solid in the defensive secondary. Success on defense will be determined by our ability to stop the run and pressure the quarterback.

Re: The Career of Coach West (NCAA 11)

2010 Schedule Released

@ #1 Alabama
@ #11 Wisconsin
@#23 Utah
vs. UC Davis (FCS Southeast)
@
Nevada
vs. #5 Boise State
vs. Fresno State
@ New Mexico State

vs. Utah State
@ Hawaii
@Idaho
vs. Louisiana Tech

Coach's Comments: We start with a brutal non-conference schedule before our home opener against UC Davis. Then we open conference play with three very tough opponents and maybe the best team in the nation, the Boise State Broncos. It is going to take all that we have to achieve our goals. We can't afford to take a single game off this season.

2010 WAC Conference Projections

The Broncos look like the best team in the WAC and maybe one of the best teams in the nation. They are expected to run away with the conference.

The Wolfpack led the NCAA in rushing last season. They will be looking for similar results this season.

Who doesn't love the Bulldogs style? They will play anybody anywhere. Pat Hill's team is always up for a challenge.

The Vandals have been consistently among the worst teams in the nation. Until last year that is...When the Vandals put together a solid season. They hope to repeat the success they had last season.

The Bulldogs struggled last season but look to be a better, more experienced team this year.

The Hawaii Warriors are looking to regain the success they had a few years ago.

Utah State has never won a WAC championship. Don't look for this to be the year.

New Mexico State had possible the worst offense in the nation last season. Word out of Las Cruces is that the Aggies will be much improved on that side of the ball this season.

The Spartans are projected to finish last in the WAC this season. Are Coach West's dreams of a bowl bid unrealistic?

Deuce, I completely stole the helmets idea from you but I like the way they look in your dynasty. Hope you don't mind if I use them.
