They're 8-4 and coming out of a bad division.

ACC IS BELONG TO US December 11, 2011 - 12:15pm Posted by AllstarMe

Second Trip to Tampa for a lot of us, and we don't want to leave empty handed the way we did my freshman year against Maryland. It's basically a home game for Florida State, but we know how to play on the road.

It has been raining, and I know it'll probably rain all game. Our defense is nasty in the rain, but our offense tends to bog down. Ten minutes until the start and the sun burst through the clouds, a good weather game?

I really feel like I've mastered the art of rushing the quarterback this season, and my 13 sacks should be proof enough. It took me two years to get to 11, and bam this year I flew right by it.

Florida State wasn't the challenge we thought they'd be, and our fans turned out in huge numbers, to the point where it was probably 70% Hokie fans. It was great to see our fans would travel to Florida to see us win the ACC. Now? BCS Bowl Game!

I had another great game. 113 tackles freshman year with 6 sacks, 85 tackles last year with 6 sacks and a pick, with one game left this season, 126 tackles 13 sacks, 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 2 touchdowns. Best year ever.

Finally a BCS Bowl Game. Weird how we win the ACC and yet finish behind North Carolina in the polls. They even get a better bowl game then us, but we can't worry about that. Focusing on the task at hand and the Cincinnati Bearcats is our number one priority.

I've only played at the Orange Bowl once in my career, and we were embarrassed. I told everyone it was time to right that. We need to come out early and set the tempo. Make them play Hokie Football.

We did that for a while, taking a 31-14 lead into the fourth...and for the second time this season we lost a huge lead in the final frame. I'm sick. Physically. I don't know if I'll be back next year.

Re: Hammertime! Connor Davies, a Outside Linebackers Perspective

Inside Lane Stadium in the Media Room, there is a buzz in the crowd. Will Linebacker Connor Davies come back for his senior season and try one last time for a National Title, or will he leave for the NFL after the greatest season in Virginia Tech history. The room is filled to the back wall-to-wall with reporters from ESPN and every other major sports media outlet. In the front on a small stage is a tiny table with a Hokies banner in the background, and Connor's jersey draped on the front of the podium.

AD:
I'd like to thank you all for gathering today. Connor would like to announce his intentions for the future.

Connor: I never thought this many people would turn out for a press conference featuring me, but many things have changed since becoming a Hokie three years ago. Thanks to the great staff, Coach Beemer, Coach Frederickson, and all the other coaches I have ever had, I have become a better football player then I could have ever imagined. My goals were simple when I started here at Virginia Tech. Win the ACC, we've done that, Become an All-American, I've done that, and win a National Championship, we've not done that. This decision has weighed on me over the past two months since the season ended with our loss in the Orange Bowl.

Connor begins to tear up slightly, Coach Beemer pats him on the back.

Beemer:
What Connor is trying to say is that he will declare himself eligible for the NFL draft. I'm thankful that such a player came to Virginia Tech and taught the younger players well this season as a captain. He will not be easily replaced, and whichever team drafts him will be getting one hell of a ball player.

Connor gets up and hugs Coach Beemer. He turns and leaves the stage with the media yelling questions inaudibly to him.
