Tepper Forced to Sell Panthers after Tumultuous Seasons

Current Owner David Tepper.

--It seems that David Tepper's ownership of the Carolina Panthers is to be short-lived. After the owner's and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conducted an investigation into an incident between Tepper and a fan last season, the owners have voted to put the Panthers up for sale.

"We cannot tolerate that kind of behavior, especially after what we just had to go through with the Washington franchise," Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones said. "Throwing drinks at a fan because your upset, unhealthy workplace practices, and threatening to fire your own radio hosts because they criticize you is unacceptable."

Tepper, a former minority-owner with the Pittsburgh Steelers, purchased the Carolina Panthers back in 2018 for $2.3 billion dollars. Since then, he has made some questionable decisions, including hiring Frank Reich as head coach after interim coach Steve Wilks led the team to a 6-6 record and one game short of a playoff berth after firing head coach Matt Rhule. He then fired Reich after the team started 1-10 last year. It appears that the drafting of number one pick Bryce Young was Tepper's decision as well, after Reich had informed Tepper that he preferred Texan's quarterback CJ Stroud.

Last season, Tepper was caught on camera throwing a drink at a Jacksonville Jaguar's fan after the team lost 26-0. Tepper claims that he got upset that the Jaguar's fan was cheering after an injury to one of the Panther's players.

Owners Approve Sale of Panthers

--The NFL Owners approved the sale of the Carolina Panthers today to a conglomerate made up of videogame streamers. The conglomerate, Pro Streaming LLC, is made up of more than 100 streamers on Twitch and Kick. The majority owner of the Panthers will now be Reed Sorenson. Mr. Sorenson will have controlling interest in the team, acquiring 51% of the Carolina Panthers.

"It is a dream come true to be an owner of an NFL franchise. Even better that it is the team in my home state of North Carolina," Sorenson said. "Even though I have grown up as a Green Bay Packers fan, I know the highs and lows that this franchise has gone through. The rocky roller-coaster if you will. That is about to change. I am going to do whatever it takes to get the Panthers to elite status as one of the best franchises in the National Football League."

Sorenson takes over a franchise that seems to have no direction whatsoever. Constant firings of head coaches over the last several years, and the team's best players being traded has gutted this roster of any long-term solutions. This franchise will need an overhaul if it is to get to the postseason anytime soon.

Sorenson Introduces Dave Canales as Head Coach of Panthers

New owner Reed Sorenson announced today that former Tampa Bay Buc's offensive coordinator Dave Canales will be the Panther's new head coach.

"It is with great pleasure that I welcome Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers as our new head coach. Dave is known for being an offensive guru and I am sure that he will do a great job leading our guys", said Sorenson.

Dave Canales spent 13 years working under Pete Caroll and the Seattle Seahawks. Starting out as a wide receivers coach, he worked his way up to passing game coordinator and helped revived Geno Smith's career as Smith was named Comeback Player of the Year in 2022. He then moved on to be the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where quarterback Baker Mayfield would also resurrect his career, guiding the Bucs to the playoffs.

Canales will now take over the duty of trying to resurrect former number one pick Bryce Young and molding him into a quality starter in the NFL while working with one of the worst offenses in the league.

Along with being introduced as the next head coach of the Panthers, Canales introduced both his offensive and defensive coordinators. Andre Weaver was announced as the offensive coordinator. Weaver also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks organization where he was the assistant wide receivers coach and the assistant quarterback coach before going to Tampa Bay last year to be the wide receivers coach.

Canales announced that Darren Young will return as defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. Young, who was hired under former coach Frank Reich, led the Panther's defense to #4 rank last year in yards allowed, but also was 29 out of 32 teams in points allowed.
