They can't...for legal reasons. They would have to get the rights to each individual retired player who is no longer a part of the NFL Players union. So sometimes they go after the bigger names and are able to use their names and likeness in a game, but they can't get each retired player...for obvious reasons.

Same thing with baseball games these days. We have Johnny Bench to thank for all this. He sued a gaming company about 10 years ago and won, for using his name, likeness, etc... without his permission.

Great find bro lots of old school names there but how did the owner not drop those numbers? Anyway its good stuff having the names to at least know who was there on the team, again great find and links to boot thanks a lot I can make use this site for infomation going waaaay back thanks.

I wish that NFL archives site was still good because these historic rosters would've been done by now.

It is...just select one of the team icons at top of the page to go to their history site where they have rosters and numbers...

Nobody said you had to go through the team pics. I would use the pull down options and would get an page error. Now I just need to take the time to fill out the remaining teams and post them.
