Icon5 Roster/Franchise Creation Workflow.

The NFL 2k5 gamesave editor (4.0) is an excellent tool for updating rosters and creating seasons in franchise. But doing a complete overhaul of the league is a very cumbersome experience.

For those of you who have taken on the larger project of pushing out a complete roster/franchise, what is your workflow?

I noticed that the gamesave editor allows you to export data to excel, but is there any way of importing an excel doc back into the editor?

Re: Roster/Franchise Creation Workflow.

The last few years I've been following the following process using NFL2K5Tool.
  1. Download Madden Ratings using the chrome inspector tools.
  2. Convert Madden ratings to a format usable by NFL2K5Tool.
  3. Load up the Base 2004 Roster in NFL2K5Tool.
  4. Paste in the converted Roster text.
  5. Save to a new roster file.
  6. Transfer Roster to original XBOX.
  7. Start a new Franchise with the Roster (making every team playable in game).
  8. Save the Franchise to the XBOX, transfer to PC.
  9. Load up Franchise Save into NFL2K5Tool
  10. Paste in schedule, Save
  11. Verify that Franchise file works properly, plays ok
  12. Fix any glaring issues noticed.

Step #3 is important for making a new Save. NFL2K5Tool is far from perfect (I just haven't had the motivation to improve it for a while). But it does the following pretty well:
  • Extracting data from Roster files and Franchise files
  • Editing the base Roster file
  • Editing the schedule on the a Franchise file.

This seems vague and not clear enough.

Both steps #1 & #2 are vague and complex.
I use a project to accomplish #2, but I wouldn't expect anyone else to try to use it.
