Fins Editor v4.0 Xbox 360

I have had no problem downloading zip files from the community and loading them into the editor and messing around with them, then loading them onto my hard drive and playing. Unfortunately I am having an issue taking files from my xbox 360, and getting them onto the editor. I am simply extracting the file folder (using xplorer360) and then compressing the file (as fins editor only likes .zip files). the editor is able to open the file, but once i make changes and try to save the file the program crashes. If any could point me in the direction of a guide or some advice that would be great. Thanks
