New Roster Update Solution for PS3 users.

I've found a new solution to the problem of keeping PS3 users up to date with the latest rosters without using a Sony Memory Card Adaptor, PS2 and Action Replay Max.

You will need the following:

• ESPN NFL 2K5 (PS2)
• A backwards compatible PS3
• An updated ESPN NFL 2K5 roster for the PS2 (available here and on http://www.nfl2k5rosters.com/2k5playstationrosters.html)
• Swap Magic 3.6 "Plus" and/or Swap Magic 3.8 "Coder" (A list of retailers selling this can be found here: http://www.swapmagic3.com/Swap_Magic_Where_To_Buy.asp. It can also be found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Magic-2-Di...=operasport-20)
• PS2 Save Converter http://www.ps2savetools.com/download...ddetails&lid=9
• ULaunch.elf with usb drivers http://www.mediafire.com/?yznxny2omqd
• A compatible USB memory device (FAT32 formatted)

Step by Step guide:



1. Download and install / purchase the necessary equipment


2. Download the relevant roster from OperationSports or http://www.nfl2k5rosters.com/2k5playstationrosters.html


3. Open the .rar or .zip file containing the roster and drag and drop the roster to the desktop.


4. Open the PS2 Save Converter, click the OPEN button, select your roster file, then select SAVE using the save as .psu option.


5. Convert all your saves to .psu format and put them on the usb.

6. Make a folder on the root of your usb named SWAPMAGIC. Rename uLaunch.elf to SMBOOT0.ELF and put inside the SWAPMAGIC folder.

7. Boot Swapmagic on the PS3.
For Swap Magic 3.6+ at the menu screen press D-Pad up and L1 to start ulaunch.elf
For Swap Magic 3.8coder, goto the SMBOOT menu and select SMBOOT0
Once uLaunch.elf starts go to the Filebrowser, navigate to mass(usb device) and select your .psu save. Hit R1 for the option menu and select copy. Go to mc0: or mc:1 and hit R1 then select psuPaste. uLaunch.elf unpacks the save and you´ll see the gamesave folder with the roster inside. If the save is in Raw format, you select the roster folder, hit R1, then copy. go to mc0 or mc1: and select mcPaste.
8. Exit to the XMB. you should now see your game saves. That´s it. you can now play NFL 2K5 using the roster you just imported.


What about .PSV format?

Well with this process you skip the .PSV format altogether if you want.
Everyone says we can't encrypt a save in .PSV format and they're right. Only the PS3 can make a .psv save.

So in the XMB goto the memcard, select your save, select copy, go to the device you want to save to and the PS3 will happily convert your game save to .psv format.

Saving in .psv format will make sharing rosters with fellow PS3 users much easier and encourage them to do the same.
