I am not sure if the IR thing works, I never tried it - I was messing around with the editor one day and it gives you an option to put players on IR so I assumed it would give me the same option to remove them on IR.
If it doesn't work, I personally do not care much for the practice squad players - but I would like them to atleast be on my team during the preseason because rosters can be maxed out to 65 players. And if they don't make the team just cut them.
However, your method for practice squad players is good I like that idea.
