I have a question for you guys, is the game still enjoyable on the default rosters? No updates just playing the game in its original state.

I dont have updated rosters. I started playing with franchise back in 2004. I am up to 2011 off season... it is still an awesome game. I play on legendary difficulty and love it. I play on the ps3, with my rosters from ps2. Until madden or a game can reach the level of fun and franchise depth. Hope this helps.

I think it will end up depending on how you feel about not having updated rosters or not.

Personally I enjoy it a ton in it's original state. I forget what difficulty level I play, maybe the third one (can't even remember the name ha). But I just set the difficulty and got down to playing with the original rosters and I had a blast. I ended up getting all the way to late 2009 in my bengals franchise. That's 5 and 1/2 seasons of enjoyment I've been able to get out of this game in it's orginal state. I would still play it, but I am xbox-less until june but I'll certainly start playing it again when I am able to again.

Personally I prefer updated rosters, but the game is still enjoyable with default rosters.

Actually I enjoy playing the default rosters they help keep me focused on the original gameplay and keep me in check as to how the developers intended the game to be played and I use as a base in my editing to keep me focused and grounded and not get to over-rated when editing rosters its the game in its purist form and what keeps me goin' its the most fun I have besides seeing the edits close to the original rosters it may be outdated but its the water mark IMO for true sim gameplay including the franchise mode among its other great features it truly is a legendary game in the sports arena of gaming IMO, "Just plain old" is the best ever .
