NFL 2K13 Comes One Step Closer to Reality with Take Two Sales
April 08, 2010

Go Fanboy has followed up on the rumor that Take Two was trying to raise funds in an attempt to bid on the NFL license in 2012. The site was tipped off to a major sale of one of T2's largest assets which backs up the previous article.
Another step towards NFL 2K13 seems to have been made. As reported back in late January, rumors have been swirling around TakeTwo (T2), the parent company of 2K Games and 2K Sports, that preparations were being made to bid on the NFL license in 2012 once EA's exclusivity agreement ends.

I would have sworn that the EA/NFL deal was extended past 2012 but then again, I havent paid any attention since I dont care either way. I have 2K5 and Finn's editor which is all I really need.

RockStar's Red Dead Redemption should sell millions upon millions of copies, not to mention the DLC. Take Two should be printing money this year.

Sad but probably true.

Imagine if 2k was able to wrestle the reigns away from EA...

Yet, we could suffer from the same mistakes that EA has made without competition forcing them to improve their product. At the very least, they'd have an excellent base in 2k5 to work upon, so that gives it plenty of upside.

Not possible.

If 2K is going to make a NFL game, it's going to need to be not nearly exactly like NFL 2k5. It needs something "fresh" in it if you know what im saying.

Is there any DLC available yet because those redeem codes for the outfit/soundtrack, golden guns and the war horse are going for insane prices on ebay. Its nuts.

I disagree with this because look at 2K8, it sucked in my opinion. If Take Two was to somehow get back the rights to the NFL, they should just "perfect" everything from 2K5 and add in all of the stuff that they wanted to add in 2K6 but obviously couldnt.

Basically, stick to the basics, eliminate the crappy *** gimmicks, add more stuff that should be in a football game and concentrate on perfectly it all and there ya go.

There is one negative regardless, TTI would have to get the broadcast rights to CBS, FOX or NBC since EA has the ESPN license for 15 years.

I loved APF2K8, but it's more of a strategic game, and it's the strategy that drew me into it.

I hope both EA/2K have the rights, and not just 2K. If EA is struggling to turn a profit on 7 million in sales, I don't see how 2K could do it on less sales if they had the license. Both companies should have the license, including back breaker if they want it, so we can have real competition and better games once again.
