Court Greenlights Class-Action Suit Against EA for NFL Exclusivity

Doubtful that this will amount to much. But, maybe it's a glimmer of hope for seeing a new 2K football game. I'm not a Madden *****, but you have to admit competition generally makes for better games by both sides.

After reading that article, I honestly think that EA is in huge trouble of losing the class action suit because if there wasnt a damn good case against them, the judge never would have greenlighted the case.

And while this should be in the other topic, im going to post it here -

ESPN NFL 2K5 did in fact kick EA's *** because EA lowered all their games from $60 to $30 only three months after Madden was released despite the fact that it normally took EA almost a year to actually lower their sports titles. Amazing how the NFL didnt think that EA cutting the price in half three months later didnt cheapen the NFL brand.

I love how EA not only purchased the exclusive rights to the NFL but also the NCAA, AFL and ESPN licenses as well. Sorry but if the EA/NFL deal wasnt the start of the biggest ******* screwjob in sports video game history, I dont know what is.

This is fantastic news! Hopefully something good comes out of this lawsuit and brings back competition for video game football using the NFL license.

I don't think it will fly. If it does then they'll have to address all of the exclusivity of other products connected with varying sports: Gatorade, Snickers, whatever.

Not that I care. Personally, I can do without potential commercials saying things like, "Viagra! The Official Male Enhancement Product for the United States Pole Vaulting Team"

Because EA hasnt done a damn thing to improve their product in the last half decade plus when EA dropped the price of 2005 to $30, they went back to $60 with 2006 because they had no competition and thus, could jack the price back up.

There's a difference there bud. You can still go out and buy other drinks and candy bars because you have plenty of options. In regards to the EA/NFL deal, you cant go out and buy any other football game except Madden and thats where the difference is.

And I honestly think that there's an excellent chance of EA losing because the case wouldnt have been given the okay to go forward and because the lawfirm has actually won some huge cases.

If EA loses, everything changes.
