Gaming on AT&T Fiber connection VS XFinity's shared network

Hi, I'm looking to get opinions for online gaming and internwt streaming with AT&T vs Xfinity. With XFinity I'm getting about 90mbps speeds. AT&T is promising speeds that would be at 1,000 mbps.

I'm currently using a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 modem and compatible Netgear router from Best buy, that gives me a stronger range and supports numerous devices...if it matters.

Re: Gaming on AT&T Fiber connection VS XFinity's shared network

I got AT&T fiber within the last week. I cannot stress enough how happy I am to be done with Spectrum/TWC. I slowly dropped services with them over time and this was the final piece to go. I had to deal with their unreliable service for entirely too long, so good riddance.

When I signed up, the operator didn't inform me that 1000 Mbps speed was available, so I currently have the 100/100. The download is quite a bit less than what I got with Spectrum, but the upload is much better. Spectrum only offered me 20 max upload, and I'd be lucky to get 5 on PS4. That said, I have no problems whatsoever with the service. I was so used to my modem crashing every week or fire stick's losing connection every twenty minutes, that this feels like a whole new world lol.

I'm sure I'll upgrade to the gig at some point, but I don't have much of a need right now. For what I use my internet for, this is perfect. The connection was smooth on PS4 and the bodies were dropping in Siege, so I'm good. The thing I like most about Fiber is that the connection is mine alone and I don't have to share with the rest of the neighborhood. They packaged in a nice deal with Direct TV as well. Goodbye, Spectrum. You will not be missed.

Man i've been stuck with 9/2mbps for the past couple of years and even slower before that damn HOA. been basically using my phone since it pulls 50/20 but i cant use it for gaming due to the latency. How they setup your fiber did they install an ONT inside or outside of your home?

Interior. They drilled a hole in the floor to the crawlspace underneath the house connected the wire to the unit. My gaming/cpu setup is in that room, so it was perfect.

9/2? You poor soul, lmao.

Went for the gigapower. Did the install on the outside and inside of garage. House was already prewired for internet with cat5e cables so patched into that. Only able to see about 200-350mbps dl and up on my pcs all of em have 1gbps nic ports. Still 20-30x faster than what i had before but supposedly the minimum i should be seeing is a 600mbps dl/up

Good stuff, man. I ended up going ahead and upgrading mine as well. Only $20 a month extra than what I was paying, which isn't too bad imo. Did a quick test after I got off the phone. This is what internet is supposed to be.

Using some registry tweaks from https://www.speedguide.net/articles.php on my computers i was able to get dl speed near 800Mbps and upload speed around 400Mbps from speedtest.net. Results are much lower when using other sites to test though
