Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Bronson
The Fountain

Umm..WTF am I watching?

Bronson - Hardy and Gosling need to tag-team Refn and do a spy vs. spy type of movie. Give it to us! Hardy is amazing in this. I really don't know what else to say because this movie is a little deranged - as intended.

The Fountain - Pretty good. I liked the structure of the story and while the story itself was kind of mediocre and straight-forward I felt like everything else picked up the slack. Great movie.

I'm a fan of The Fountain, assuming we're talking about the same film in which Hugh Jackman stars. Pretty cool.

I refuse to think that that's the same movie you watched for the simple reason that Darren Aronofsky directed the Jackman film and there's NOTHING straight forward about his movies.

Though I could be totally wrong

Ugh, The Fountain? I think I saw that. I don't know if I posted about it in here, but I don't recall loving it (I think the present day stuff might have been fine, but damn I forgot that movie even existed).

Haha I actually kinda liked it for that very reason. I enjoyed it very much visually as well. The scenes in space and in the supernovae (I think that's what it was) were stunning, and I thought the parallel storytelling method worked out in an interesting way.

On a side note, I just watched Hanna last night. I liked it. Some cool action scenes, and I liked how it played into the seeming contradiction of the innocence and sweetness of a young girl whose purpose is essentially to be a trained killer.

I don't think its as far "out there" as the parallel time-periods suggest. The basic storyline and motivation is pretty simple, but how its put together is what makes the movie good.
