Yes, pitch side and -1 or -2 is the way to play this game.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do with the headers.You can reduce the amount of header goals by playing the game on the last difficulty level though.I suppose you mean that header goals are easy for you and not for cpu.If you have problems in aerial defending just watch some youtube videos.In general, in pes12 you need to cover area on pitch with the player you're defending.

i'm just the opposite...I can't score on headers for anything...or volleys for that matter... My players just MISS the ball...I dont know how many ridiculous diving headers that never make contact I have seen.

But when my player refuses to one-time the ball I nearly lose my mind. I press "shoot", gauge appears, player traps ball...opportunity lost.

i sure hope the next one is better. i don't like playing FIFA, and PES has been no fun since PS2... yay.
