I honestly think that a mix between the control of FIFA and PES 12 would be just right, neither gets it well enough.

I compare PES 12 to NBA 2k10 in that you often feel out of control of the player. It's an extremely difficult line to tightrope but let's not kid ourselves PES needs some extensive tuning to it's movement engine.

I also agree with you about Soho's last bit, It's definitely the other way around but guys who blatantly prefer PES and slam FIFA are turning a blind eye to some decently serious flaws in order to soak in that ai. It's not like PES plays perfect and just looks ugly or FIFA just looks gorgeous and plays crap. There are certain gameplay elements that I greatly prefer in FIFA but there's no getting around that the offensive buildup ai is a step above in PES.

Let's hope both games continue to push each other to someday achieve football Nirvana!

I'm still fairly new to PES considering that I picked it up last December and never previously played it for the very same reason that many Fifa players don't. They don't think it's a viable alternative.

So the game still feels very fresh and enjoyable. Another big part of why I love PES is the presentation element and graphics. I guess I'm in the minority but the game intros and especially the fact that Konami has the ACTUAL pre-game video and music for champions league matches adds to the experience so much.

The instant replays are also something that I love. The camera angles and blur effect that PES has makes it very TV like in its presentation.

The whole package of PES just feels more like an experience whereas I am so used to the whole EA presentation (or lack thereof) having played all of their games for dozens of years.

I guess that in a nutshell is why I am a fan of PES at this current time.

My last game was PES 2005 or so havent played soccer games since then only demos last year...

I'm pretty new to football games, I've only owned FIFA 09 and played the demo's for FIFA 10,11,12 and the demo for PES 12. I'll have to try out a full version of PES to really get into an in dept discussion BUT.

I definitely can see where PES has graphical advantages over FIFA I just think as a whole and more importantly in some key animation implementations (which greatly affect gameplay) FIFA comes out with the edge.

I agree with what they were saying in the roundtable discussion about PES looking like it's a few years behind in certain movement systems. And at the same time I think that certain FIFA animations are way too fast and don't look realistic at all.

Either way it's exciting to jump into a previously untapped genre for me, so I can't wait to see how both series improve.

Do you really think people are unknowledgeable about PES? That game has been THE football game for many years but ever since they went to next gen they've gotten lazy and FIFA has surpassed them. People have known for years about Option Files and the like, so most people aren't bothered by that. It's the actual gameplay that PES had separated itself from the competition which has become stagnant.

It is most definitely not the other way around. Maybe until PES 5/6 you could say that PES was the sim game. But now you can't. With PES's cartoonish animations and lack of 360 movement and dribbling, it's still in the dark ages and for that reason a lot of people have deserted PES and have gone to FIFA.

To each his own I guess. Both games are fun -- I find things that I like in PES more, but overall I think we are spoiled to have two dedicated groups of developers!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are more casual gamers playing FIFA than PES. To me, FIFA is the easier of the two games to master because it is less about tactics and more about quick button pressing.
