After esportsboxingclub drops!

After this game drops I bet you EA changes their tune on making the game more realistic. I bet they try to make their mma and boxing game more realistic. If Brian Hayes still has something to do with these games they could still have some bad gimmicky parts to them. Competition will make these games better so I am thankful for that .

They won’t. They will continue to make the game that they think will generate the most revenue and sells the most games. If ESBC becomes a huge financial success, maybe that will motivate EA to change their approach but I doubt that ESBC will be that big of a financial juggernaut.

Don’t get me wrong. I think ESBC will be a financial success but not so big that it will change their approach.

Yeah, it's kinda silly how people seem to be convinced that ESBC is gonna make some huge difference to EA and how they go forwards with UFC games.

It could potentially change how they approach the next Fight Night game, but I don't see why it would impact UFC in the slightest. Even if ESBC is a huge success, that doesn't mean that it has anything to do with the approach that the devs have taken in order to try and make it realistic. People have been begging for a new boxing game for a long long long time now, and ESBC is the first notable attempt at making one since the last Fight Night game. I think it's likely that ESBC would sell well, regardless of how devs approached gameplay. They could make the UFC 4 equivalent of a boxing game and it would probably sell just the same amount of copies, simply because people are so desperate for a new boxing game.

Going with that last thought, ESBC will never really be a replacement for MMA games in the eyes of most gamers. It doesn't matter how good ESBC is - fans of MMA games will likely buy UFC 5 regardless of how the game turns out. I'm excited for ESBC, but I do not enjoy boxing in the same way as I enjoy MMA, and honestly, I think I'm way more likely to be entertained by an adequate MMA game than by an amazing boxing game, simply because I enjoy MMA so much more. I think a lot of people feel the same way.

The games are loosely related in terms of genre and style, but as you've rightfully said, I don't think they're really competitors. The real question is whether or not ESBC will have any impact on the next EA boxing game.

Honestly, I'm good with them, just taking some time off. I'm in need of a boxing game, and I mean now... It's unbelievable.

UFC 4 had better success than UFC 3 even though it is worse than UFC 3. Striking is downgraded, stamina and gameplay is arcadey , clinch tries to improve but ends up having no mechanics at all , which results in a really shallow experience. UFC 4 could be more simulation if they wanted but I am pretty sure they wanted to appeal casual fans who don't know much about the sport.

Yes...they want the "crowbar submission" and "The Matrix kick" crowd to throw that chedda around.

EA Sports, across many of their sports titles, doesn't look for actual realism. They look for pseudo-realism. They want the game to feel real enough to casual players who can feel like they're playing a reasonable facsimile of that sport without needing to be an actual expert in that sport.

That is indeed the curse of the mainstream business: having to cater to everybody.

Lots of people are actually complaining about the controls in the UFC games being "too complex" and I must confess that after a while of non-activity (as muscle memory fades away) I always wonder myself what to press.
