This Would Be a Dope Boxing Game.

As a huge boxing fan and a long time fightnight player I really only play this game to box. Normally I just box, only throwing punches and using footwork, headmovement, and counters and can really box circles around almost everyone I ever face. The only thing that really bothers me occasionally is when jerkbags start in with the constant knee, knee-elbow, low-teepkick spam and I have chosen a smaller fighter against tall long cheesy fighter. But it occurred to me that none of the exploits in the standup are boxing related.

If it were just a boxing match there would be no spammy knee elbow combos, no flying knees that have hit invulnerability, no knees that are invulnerable to hooks and uppercuts, no spinning kicks with insane range and accuracy that have faster animations then normal kicks, no calf kick straight spam. Like if it were just boxing you could get some really good tactical fights and players would have to fight wisely and pick their shots. Tall vs compact fighters would play out much more interestingly with working for space vs pressure and how speed plays into it. This might have been the most balanced game they ever made if it were just a boxing game lol. Instead everyone is frustrated with the game because the other aspects of martial arts are imbalanced and exploitable. They should release a boxing only mode for the game.

I also don't get why they didn't have pure boxing rules. It's quite easy: you just disable the inputs for kicks on the already-established pure striking mode. You definitely wouldn't be the only one interested in it. But instead they did "adrenaline mode". Not sure who even plays that.

In EA UFC 3 they even did a submission-only mode but the standup felt a bit weird. I imagine in EA UFC 4, which the clinch game gone, it would be really awkward. I imagine I was one of the only people who sometimes played it, but I liked the tiebreaker sub escape game. Once got to tiebreaker 5 actually.

Yeah It would def be easy to implement by just disabling the kicks and elbow in the stand and bang mode. I think they probably just don't want to because they are afraid of seeing how many people may gravitate towards it when they invested so much time in the other aspects of mma and put pressure on them to return to fight night instead of UFC.

But I am 100% confident a boxing only mode would be the most balanced least cheesy mode in the game.

If anything, if would alleviate the pressure and potentially stop a lot of people from complaining on social media about the lack of FN. I personally get it. You have the UFC license now. Make UFC games... or just sell it and leave it to others. Right now nobody is working on anything, I assume, apart from one person updating the 'challenges' a couple of minutes a day. At this point, the license is just costing them money. I doubt there's any income anymore (UFC related obviously).

But maybe people will gravitate towards it, but what harm can it do? More ppl having fun equals more positivity surrounding the game equals more buys. The more ppl have fun, the less time they spend complaining.

With the way people spam 4-5 punch combos nonstop and how it’s almost impossible to take someone down who’s pressuring you, it already feels like a boxing game

this is why ufc 2 is my favorite iteration of the series.....when the ko mode was introduced and mike tyson included as a guest fighter. given they added fury and joshua to ufc 4, then a pure boxing/ko mode should be a no-brainer.
