Not even face offs for title fights

The walkouts are great the best ever but as soon as we reach the cage it all goes downhill,no padding down, shortened Bruce Buffer intros and now the worst of all no face offs for title fights, what were EA thinking,we could have had a 10 out of 10 for walkouts to fight but really we should only give it a 6 because nobody is happy about this. Lets hope EA can get everything that is missing back in the game.

It’s funny they put a lot of emphasis on presentation but still couldn’t get it right. I haven’t played it but it seems like the least inspired entry in the series. And the series has always lacked.

The fights themselves are much improved from ufc 4, don't let the rest of it put you off.

Re: Not even face offs for title fights

This looks like a disturbing trend at EA. Now I have never played ufc franchise though I am intrigued by it. But what I am noticing across the board at EA is presentation elements are slowly being removed from titles.

Madden lost a lot of pre game stuff years ago. No game day weather conditions, no coin toss among other things.

NHL last year lost a lot of their pre game elements such as goalie stats, player trends, and what is on the line as far as the matchup.

Lastly FC24 this year lost all the walk ins, anthems and player siloutte lineups.

Lastly what saying there is a portion of the gaming audience that wants to replicated what we see on tv. Makes feel like we are creating our own sports world production. I have no idea who thinks it is good idea to give us half backed presentation. The prevention adds to the immersion and build up of the sporting event that is to follow. Just my two cents.

I agree, this is coming from the top of EA and trickling into all their games. Madden too has cut down on pregame stuff quite a bit compared to even a couple years ago… I’m guessing some big-wig at the top saw that by limiting the amount of cutscenes, it gets people into more fights, which makes them spend more money in game, it’s the only explanation that this would start happening all at the same time across every genre of game they make

EA Sports: If It’s In The Game, It MIGHT Be In Our Game Too!

EDIT: Somehow missed that Madden was the first game you mentioned lol but everything else is still valid

I asked and apparently it's because people wanted shorter intros so they did it to get us faster to the fights. I don't agree with this at all. We need those fighter intros back ASAP. We should make a poll or something, because other than that the fighter walkouts are some of the best I've seen in an MMA game to date.

Re: Not even face offs for title fights

For the overall experience of the game, I believe it is necessary for both players to face each other, listen to the basic rules, and then decide whether to fist bump or refuse to do so at the end. The introduction of the referee has also been removed, and I think we need more referees instead of just one. In fact, I believe the Octagon Girl's camera should make a comeback as well.

Re: Not even face offs for title fights

I think EA employees just looked at years of data and realized that people mostly skip all the presentation bells and whistles. So they decided across the board that it was a waste of resources. Are they wrong? Eh. It seems like there's a huge disconnect between people that have played sports games for years and are invested in single player modes, content, attention to detail and stuff like that and what the majority of consumers value. Younger people who are into virtual currencies and streaming and that kinda stuff don't really care if the shorts colors are wrong, or if this injury makes no sense, or how career progression works.

It's easy to point the finger at 2k or EA and say 'the ****, really?', but they just go after what the general market values. Sports gamers from 2003, or 2013 are not the same sports gamer from 2023. That video that 2k released to promote 2k23 that looked pretty much like a virtual casino wasn't an accident, this is what their internal data suggests people want. Get virtual currency, spend it on virtual items. They got backlash and guess what, the people who were really loud and making memes all went out and bought the legend edition, and spent whatever amount of money on VC to make 5 different builds for the park.

You're posting in an online forum dedicated to sports games of all things. The marketplace for these games don't post on 'online forums'. Younger people don't post on forums to begin with. This place is like a relic from a bygone era, really. There's a sensibilities clash going on and it's a losing battle.
